Johnson & Johnson announced it has paused its coronavirus vaccine trials on Monday following an “unexplained illness” among one of its participants.Johnson & Johnson stressed that adverse events during trials are expected, and a pause gives researchers an opportunity to review all of the medical information before moving forward with the trial. Johnson & Johnson added that it’s not always immediately known if the affected person received a placebo or a study treatment.Among the trials paused was Johnson & Johnson’s multi-country “ENSEMBLE” vaccine, which entered Phase 3 testing in September. Johnson & Johnson said last month that its goal was to seek an emergency use authorization approval in early 2021.The FDA noted that a vaccine candidate must be at least 50% effective to receive emergency use authorization. Vaccine candidates should include a median follow-up duration of at least two months after completion of the full vaccination regimen to help provide adequate information to assess a vaccine’s risk-benefit.According to the FDA, a typical Phase 3 trial would take one to three years.“NIH is committed to supporting several Phase 3 vaccine trials to increase the odds that one or more will be effective in preventing COVID-19 and put us on the road to recovery from this devastating pandemic,” said NIH Director Francis S. (AP) — Kanye West will appear as a presidential candidate on Mississippi's ballot in November, after being approved as a qualified candidate by the State Board of Election Commissioners. The rapper has already qualified to appear on the ballot as an independent candidate in several states, including Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Utah. He filed to appear on the ballot in Kentucky on Friday.West failed to appear on ballots in Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey, Missouri, and Wyoming. To qualify in Mississippi, he was required to pay a ,500 fee to the Secretary of State's Office and get the signatures of at least 1,000 Mississippi voters. West, who once backed Republican President Donald Trump, announced last month that he had broken with Trump and would launch his own presidential bid. Juliana Hart said it's something she's never seen before and thought it was "kind of comical" to witness Disney cast members remove a snake from the entrance to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It's like it was something from the movie, "Jungle Book!" Except this little guy wasn't capable of hypnotizing the guests. Hart told Scripps station WFTS in Tampa a cast member came and removed the snake slithering near the entrance of the Disney World Resort Park. Video shows the snake out of its element near a security guard as guests entered the park and "Once upon a dream" plays in the background.Watch the video below:   705

Dick Durbin of Illinois — in the room. Durbin argued that a quorum was not present and that the hearing should be delayed. The Republican-controlled committee quickly voted to change the rules to proceed with the hearing and set the date for a vote on Barrett's confirmation for Oct. 22.Following that vote, Democratic committee members called for motions to delay a vote on Barrett's confirmation. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Connecticut, called the process "rushed," and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minnesota called it a "sham." Republicans, like Sen. Witnesses called by Republicans spoke to Barrett's personal character and her reputation as a "textualist" and "Constitutional originalist."Barrett was present at the hearing for any part of Thursday's hearings.Throughout her two days of questioning, Barrett attempted to mostly avoid sharing her views on hotly-debated judicial topics like abortion and public healthcare. However, President Donald Trump has said in the past that he would only nominate a judge to the court who would work to overrule the Affordable Care Act and abortion protections provided in Roe v. Wade, and Barrett's past opinions make it clear that she fits those qualifications. Judges on the UK Court of Appeal once again ruled against 23-month-old Alfie Evans' family.Wednesday's ruling rejected new arguments intended to overturn a decision by the High Court on Tuesday that prevented the terminally ill toddler from leaving Britain for medical treatment, said Roger Kiska, a lawyer with Christian Legal Center and part of the legal team representing Alfie's parents."We have the right to appeal to the Supreme Court and the European Court," Kiska told CNN. "We could seek new medical evidence showing that his condition is improving."
