Alec Sprague, who lives in Jacksonville, said he went a Costco to buy a generator, and saw a man purchasing over 100 of them. Sprague said the man was buying the generators and food to send to the Bahamas. In a Facebook post, Sprague stated, "Was just in Costco off Collins getting a generator (at 0 each) and this guy right here is purchasing over 100 generators and food to send to the Bahamas! While wet weather has plenty of benefits, storms leave behind bacteria-riddled puddles. And that can make your (perfectly innocent!) dog very sick.In the wake of wet weather, pets — particularly dogs that spend time outdoors — are more at risk of contracting leptospirosis and giardia. Don’t panic, though — both are treatable and pets will usually make a full recovery if the symptoms aren’t ignored, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). However, even in mild cases, they can create a headache for owners as their pet’s body fights off the illness.First up: leptospirosis. This is an infection caused by leptospira bacteria, which is found in soil and water. This usually affects dogs and is less common in cats, according to AVMA.Pets will typically come into contact with this bacteria after heavy rainfalls or while playing in or drinking out of rivers, lakes, streams and other standing water, or after exposure to wild animals. Leptospira, often called lepto, lives in standing water and mud. Pets can become infected if the bacteria moves from the source to the mucus membranes in a dog’s mouth or an open wound, according to AVMA. It’s then spread through the body via the bloodstream. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The GI Bill provides educational assistance to service members, veterans and their dependents.Rob Bannon of Jacksonville, Florida, is among the veterans who have used the government benefit to better their lives. Bannon runs a small business coaching and training golfers, both professionals and beginners. “I always had in my mind that I wanted to do something like this, but I wasn’t sure how it was going to work,” said Bannon. “That was the hard part.”Figuring that out became easier, in part, thanks to the GI Bill. Bannon spent 20 years in the army. He served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, then as a part of the joint chiefs of staff in the Pentagon during September 11. After he committed to going to the Middle East, doing two tours in Iraq, the Post 9/11 GI bill, paid his tuition and part of his housing at the College of Golf at Kaiser University. “The schooling helped me not only on the technical side on how to teach and the golf swing, but the business of golf was a heavy influence in there,” said Bannon. He put the money he saved on tuition into his business and built the facility for TPG Golf. Essentially, the GI Bill helped Bannon build a new future, post service. And over the past 75 years, since the first version of the GI Bill was passed, it’s helped more than 18 million veterans do the same. “The burden that we placed on them mentally, how much we stress them in combat, what we ask of them. I think what we do for them when they come home, is a small price the country pays,” said Bannon. Bannon says it takes a special individual to get up every morning, walk out the door and leave their family, not known what’s to come.“It is just incredibly important that we look after all of our military and try to give them the support they need,” said Bannon. Iran has seized an oil tanker it claimed was carrying 1 million liters of "smuggled fuel," state news agency Press TV said on Thursday.The semi-official Fars news agency said Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces ambushed the tanker, carrying 12 people on board, on Sunday.Citing an IRGC statement, Fars reported that the ship -- which has a capacity of 2 million liters -- is a foreign tanker and was seized in an area south of Larak, a small island in the Strait of Hormuz.Fars added that the ship was carrying fuel smuggled to it on Iranian dhows, or small boats.The IRGC have denied seizing any other tankers, Fars said.It is unclear whether the tanker seized Sunday was the same vessel as one that Iran 730
