For the second consecutive day, more than 2,000 lives were lost in the United States due to the coronavirus, according to Johns Hopkins University data.On Wednesday, 2,216 coronavirus-related deaths were recorded throughout the US, marking the most since May. Tuesday was the first time since May that 2,000 coronavirus-deaths were recorded in the US.The US death toll from the coronavirus is at 262,090 as of late Wednesday. The average number of coronavirus-related deaths in the US has now reached 1,600 per day, which is more than double the number of deaths per day a month ago. Also doubling in the last month is the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations. According to the COVID Tracking Project, the number of Americans currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is nearly 90,000. Just thirty days ago, there were 42,000 coronavirus-related hospitalizations. Sixty days ago, fewer than 30,000 were hospitalized with the coronavirus. The rapid spread of coronavirus cases in recent weeks has prompted grave concern among public health experts that family gatherings for Thanksgiving will make for a dire situation for America’s already overwhelmed and increasingly overwhelmed hospitals. 1191

FREDERICK, Colorado – The bodies of Chris Watts’ two young daughters were found inside oil and gas tanks that “were mostly full,” several high-ranking sources tell Scripps' Denver affiliate KMGH-TV.The high ranking sources said Thursday evening they believe Watts placed the bodies of 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste in the oil and gas tanks owned by Anadarko in order to hide the bodies and conceal the smell.Frederick police officials said in a 6:30 p.m. update Thursday that the bodies of the two young girls were found in close proximity to the other body whom officers strongly believe is Shanann Watts. Her body was found on property owned by Anadarko Petroleum earlier Thursday. Investigators have not yet confirmed the location of the bodies. PHOTOS: Chris Watts arrested, charged for family deathsThey were recovered as 33-year-old Christopher Watts sat behind bars at the Weld County Jail on suspicion of murdering his family.Watts was an employee at Anadarko up until Wednesday, the oil and gas company confirmed to Denver7. The husband and father was taken to jail at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday after he was detained for questioning. Two law enforcement sources said Watts had confessed to killing his wife and daughters. He faces investigation on one count of first-degree murder after deliberation; two counts of first-degree murder – position of trust; and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body. All three were reported missing Monday around 2 p.m. after Shanann did not arrive to a scheduled meeting. In addition to having two daughters, Shanann was also 15 weeks pregnant. The FBI and CBI were brought in to help Frederick police in the investigation.Weld County prosecutors said they believe Shanann and the girls were killed inside of the family’s home but did not say why they believe that. There is a candlelight vigil in front of the Watts home scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Friday. 1986

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Fort Myers, Florida, parent says there is such a thing as being overly cautious when it comes to COVID-19 safety.Lexington Middle School told Sheila Gayle’s eighth grade daughter to quarantine for 10 days because of what they thought were COVID-19 symptoms. But, mom says it’s just “that time of the month.”Her daughter went back to school today, but not before taking a trip to see her doctor after she reported feeling tired. The district required her to either quarantine until October 23 or show proof that it wasn’t COVID-19.So, instead of dropping off her daughter at school Tuesday morning, Gayle had to visit to Physicians’ Primary Care for a doctor’s note saying her daughter’s menstrual cycle caused the fatigue.“This what it’s come down to, so every month I have to come when she’s on her cycle? It’s just ridiculous at this point,” she said.Gayle says Monday afternoon, her daughter told the school nurse she had just started her cycle and felt tired. No fever, no body aches, just tired.“Just to have fatigue, because you’re tired? That’s unacceptable,” said Gayle. The nurse gave the student a form, indicating her fatigue could be related to COVID-19.A spokesperson for the School District of Lee County referred us to their website, pointing out students can return to school sooner if a doctor proves symptoms are caused by something other than the coronavirus.Gayle said she had two options. Either quarantine her daughter, which would also mean quarantine her siblings enrolled in other Lee County schools, or take time off work and get the doctor’s note. She chose the latter, hoping she won’t have to go through this again next month.“I just feel like this whole system needs to be re-evaluated,” said Gayle. The district said as of now students are not required to quarantine if a sibling has COVID-19 related symptoms. Even though it may seem a bit extreme, a spokesperson for the district says they’d rather be safe than sorry. This article was written by Rachel Loyd for WFTX. 2027

For decades, countless Americans buying a new set of wheels love that "new car smell." But Ford Motor Company may be trying to get rid of it.The automaker has filed a patent application for a new method to eliminate that new car aroma. The process calls for "baking" vehicles until the odor is gone. It works by parking vehicles in the sun and opening the windows until the smell is gone.Ford is looking to accommodate the world's largest car market – China, where drivers reportedly do not like the new car smell as much as American drivers do. 552
