When responders arrived, the man was out of the hole but the dog, a German Shepard named Taylor, was still trapped, according to SBFD.Taylor had brought a blanket into the tunnel, dug by 70-pound tortoise named Godzilla. The blanket had wedged Taylor and Godzilla together and prevented them from getting free, firefighters say.Firefighters worked to untangle the two animals, digging away dirt from around the tunnel and coaxing Godzilla out with some lettuce until the two were free.Both animals belong to the property owner where the tunnel started, SBFD says. (KGTV) — A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Searles Valley area of San Bernadino County late Sunday.The quake was recorded at about 9:15 p.m. about 14 miles outside of Ridgecrest, Calif., according to the USGS. No injuries or damages were immediately reported.According to the USGS' "Did You Feel It?" map, not San Diego County responses were submitted.Last week, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake was reported in the same region outside Ridgecrest. (KGTV) -- Gov. Gavin Newsom Monday announced California's plan for how COVID-19 vaccines will be distributed once they receive emergency Food and Drug Administration approval. The state is waiting on three companies that say their trials have shown promising results: Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca.On Monday, Newsom explained that health care workers will be the first in line to get vaccinated, along with people in nursing or assisted living facilities and first responders.The governor said there are three separate committees currently looking at the data presented by the drugmakers, confirming that the vaccines are safe, saying so far they have not had any issues. During Monday's press conference, Newsom said that the state is not handling distribution, instead the drugmaker will distribute directly to the medical facilities or use an independent distributor to transport the vaccines.
