INDIANAPOLIS -- An abused dog that was shot and left for dead has a new lease on life after an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer and his wife, a paramedic with the Wayne Township Fire Department decided to step in and help. Officer Tim Elliott was on patrol when he came across the dog that had been shot in the face and doused in bleach. Wayne Township Fire Department Captain Mike Pruitt says Officer Elliott and his fellow officers rushed in to help and took the pup to the emergency vet to try and save him. "Still alive and wagging his tail, Tim and Tiffany couldn't let this little guy perish at the hands of a savage criminal owner," said Pruitt. Pruitt says the couple fell in love with the pup and decided to save him. The pup, who's been lovingly nicknamed "Winks,"  will need surgery to have his eye removed as well as other medical treatments from the damage his previous owner had done, The Elliott family is raising money to try to help cover those costs which are expected to exceed ,500. "Winks now has a forever home full of love and a "brother" (Gauge) to help him through this," said Captain Pruitt. That is when the FDA will hold a hearing on Pfizer's vaccine. Moderna's vaccine will get a hearing on December 17. The hearings are being conducted by the “Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee,” and they could give approval within 72 hours of the first hearing taking place. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER FDA APPROVAL After FDA gives the go ahead, the CDC will finalize who should get it first. The good news is that the CDC have already released who they think should be first in line. Earlier this week, an advisory committee to the CDC recommended health care workers and those in nursing homes receive access almost immediately. Ultimately though, governors will serve as "air traffic controllers" directing which specific facility has access to the first doses of vaccines. If the current timeline holds, those orders could start going out on December 11 or December 12. AVERAGE AMERICANS TIMELINE AND POTENTIAL ISSUES If you are not deemed a high priority, it will still likely be months before you are able to get a vaccine. Some analysis point to Februrary, but other analysis point to April or May. Some potential issues for distribution include the temperature the vaccines must be stored at. The Moderna vaccine can stay in traditional refrigerators at around 40 degrees or so but Pfizer's must be stored at -94 degrees, which may be trickier to transport in more rural parts of the country. Another big question mark is will Americans actually want to be the first to take the vaccine? "All the science in the world isn’t going to matter if you can’t people to be immunized against COVID," Dr. John Brownstein of Boston Children's Hospital said. Former Presidents George W. INDIANAPOLIS — Multiple people were treated for injuries after being stabbed near public library in downtown Indianapolis.Police were called to the scene on East St. Clair Street around 4:30 p.m. local time Saturday.According to Indianapolis Fire Department PIO Rita Reith, the attack started in the American Legion Mall and spilled over across the street into the entrance way of the public library. Four people were taken to the hospital to be treated for stab wounds - including the suspect. Reith says two of the victims are in critical conditions. The other two suffered serious injuries. None of them are believed to be life-threatening injuries. Witnesses say the person responsible for the stabbing rode into the park on his bike and was playing loud noises on a megaphone. When people asked him to turn it off and stop he pulled out a knife and started stabbing. Reith said the suspected will remain in police custody while he is treated at the hospital. No identities have been released. The incident remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. 1128
