Doctors warn that a measles outbreak could occur following the COVID-19 pandemic due to a persistent decline in regular doctor's visits.Doctors at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, have noticed that many families are not bringing children in for regular checkups during the pandemic. While there's a variety of vaccines that children should get, doctors are anxious about the drop in measles vaccinations."If not enough kids get enough of a vaccine, measles being one of those vaccinations, you can lose herd immunity," said Dr. Sara Bode, a pediatrician at Nationwide Children's. "That puts us all at risk of having an outbreak of that illness when we get back together again."According to the World Health Organization, at least 93% of the population needs to get the measles vaccine to reach herd immunity.Researchers have found that vaccine rates have dropped as low as 70% in some places in Ohio, which raises concern for a potential measles outbreak.Typically, kids follow a type of "vaccine schedule" throughout their childhood. But many families have put vaccines for their children off amid the COVID-19 pandemic.Doctors say it's not too late to get those shots."If you're delayed in getting the measles vaccine, that's OK," Bode said. "Still come in and get it because it will protect you from the day you start to get it. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- The family and friends of the 31-year-old man accused of gunning down his wife and their kids in Paradise Hills over the weekend spoke Monday about the tragedy. Police say Jose Valdivia killed his wife, Sabrina Rosario, and their three children, 3-year-old Enzi, 5-year-old Zuriel, and 11-year-old Zeth. Valdivia also shot his 9-year-old son who survived but is in the hospital on life support. Family and friends say they do not agree with what Valdivia did, adding that they are also grieving the loss of their loved one, his wife, and their children. (KGTV) - Boy Scout Troop 363 has been meeting at the Elks Lodge off West Washington in El Cajon for about 35 years: as long as they’ve stored two trailers in their parking lot. One of the trailers is used to store all of their equipment for their monthly camping trips. The other, a trailer full of supplies for their annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser held in November. In June, their camping gear trailer was stolen out of the lot. They went to check the surveillance cameras in the area.Troop Committee Treasurer Julia Flood told 10News, “The one camera that's on this side of the building was cut."With no leads on who might have stolen the trailer, the Boy Scouts decided to collect personal camping gear to continue their trips. A few weeks later, the second trailer, stored in the same lot, was also stolen. The boys' main fundraiser, which raises close to ,000 annually, was their only hope to replace the stolen items the first time."Our hopes was that by the time we had our Christmas fundraiser we’d be able to recoup some of that loss, now they’ve taken our only means we had to try and recoup," said Flood.The Scouts set up a GoFundMe Page asking for ,000.
