CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after two cars collided on Interstate 805 in the South Bay, sending one car sliding down the freeway several hundred feet.According to Chula Vista police, the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on northbound I-805 near H Street in Chula Vista.A tow truck driver stopped to help and said the four people inside the overturned car were able to crawl out the wreckage and broken glass.The second car was able to pull over down the freeway, with minor damage.One of the flipped cars' passengers was transported to the hospital. The other three, as well as the other driver, was treated on scene for minor injuries.California Highway Patrol is investigating and believes alcohol may have been a factor. 782

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Immigration and Customs Enforcement is investigating after a man died while in the agency’s custody. According to ICE, the 37-year-old Cameroon man, identified as Nebane Abienwi, died at Sharp’s Chula Vista Medical Center Tuesday. Abienwi was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night on September 26 to undergo treatment for a brain hemorrhage. According to the agency, medical staff at the center provided treatment after Abienwi remained unresponsive to questions and appeared to be paralyzed on his left side. He remained in the hospital until his death. According to records, Abienwi applied for entry into the U.S. without proper entry documents on September 5. On September 19, he was transferred into ICE custody. ICE released the following statement Wednesday night: 821

(KGTV) -- A family in Otay Ranch is hoping a group of teens will face consequences for allegedly assaulting their teenage son.The incident was captured on cell phone video and posted to social media by the teen's mother. The family says their teen was waiting for his mom to pick him up at Cotixan Mexican Restaurant on Thursday after school, when a group of teens walked in and started kicking and punching the boy. At one point in the seven-second clip, you can see someone throw a chair on the teen. The boy's father, Margarito Martin, tells 10News he was shocked when he saw the video. He says everything started days before on Instagram, when, he says, his son told someone to stop harassing one of his friends. Martin says one teen then started messaging his son telling him he was going to beat him up. Martin says the incident was reported to Chula Vista Police but he's worried the teens will get away with what they did. Padilla beat COVID-19 after spending weeks in the ICU, 11 days on a ventilator. Padilla says the love and support of the community has been overwhelming. After beating COVID-19 and weeks of recovery, Padilla got back to work as city councilman, while also campaigning for reelection. He won his reelection by a landslide. The councilman says he is incredibly thankful for the healthcare workers still battling this pandemic, especially the ones that saved his life.
