SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A mountain biker wants to warn people about visiting the Tecolote Canyon Nature Trail. He tells 10News he had a disturbing encounter there with a man carrying a knife. Mike Hayes was feet from a trail entrance in Tecolote Canyon off Mt Acadia Boulevard when he was approached by a strange man on Sunday. Hayes says he was walking his bike near the man - a transient in his 20s, dressed in camouflage - when the man suddenly came forward and asked if Hayes was stalking him.  When Hayes said no, the man got agitated and had a look with "Charles Manson eyes." "Next thing you know, he has a knife in his hand and an angry look," said Hayes. "And he says 'If you follow me, I'm going to cut you.'"Hayes says he backed away slowly, got on his bike and rode off, while the man walked his bike away.     875

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) - A gang member was sentenced to more than 126 years in prison Tuesday for the murder of Navy pilot James Celani at Horton Plaza in 2017."This is not living. This is hell," said Celani's cousin, Sean, who was also shot in the incident. "Mr. Morris killed my happiness and my life."Sean, who asked not to have his last name revealed, and Celani were at the Mad House Comedy Club that night. Upon leaving the club, they walked past a group of men, including Morris. Sean said he offered an innocent greeting, "What's up, brother?" At that point, Morris pulled a gun and opened fire, killing Celani and hitting Sean in the leg. Prosecutors say Morris, who has a history of violence, was angry because of a fight that evening with his girlfriend.Celani's wife spoke during a victim impact statement, describing how she and their three children have suffered since her husband's murder. She called for Morris to get the maximum sentence. Elie Shammas and his family were inside their 6-story Beirut apartment. It all began just after 6pm, and it felt like an earthquake."In San Diego, feels like a rumble, but this was a jittery," said Shammas.Shammas, who taught at SDSU a decade ago, says all his locked windows swung open."The whole house was moving, and then the shock wave hit us. It was very loud. Outside, it was all dusty. I have three kids, who were jittery and scared," said Shammas.Shammas raced downstairs and snapped a photo of a huge smoke plume. Shammas says he can't help but recall Lebanon's bloody civil war."I lived through Lebanon through the war. I'm used to bombings and shellings, and this was like nothing I've seen before," said Shammas.Across the world, in San Diego, news of the blast hitting the Lebanese community hard."Just a shock. When you see it, you can't believe it's happening," said Shammas.Nabi Geha, who owns La Miche Kabobgee in Kearny Mesa, immediately called his niece and a cousin, who both live about four miles from the blast site.
