DESCANSO (KGTV) -- A San Diego County couple is warning others after getting a flat tire from an unusual source. Pamela Jessup was running errands last Thursday morning when she says she started hearing a thumping noise while driving her Toyota RAV4 on SR-79 near Old Highway 80.Jessup says it was then that she pulled over and looked at her back tire. After not seeing anything wrong, she went on her way.The thumping, however, only intensified after she drove onto Interstate 8. When she drove home, Jessup says her husband Davis found a temporary lane marker stuck, nailed in to the tire.While doing their due diligence, the Descanso residents found dozens of temporary nail markers along the side of the road in the same area Jessup ran into issues.A local tire shop was able to fix the damage to the tire, but it cost the pair . Other residents in the area took to social media to complain similar events that happened to them in the same area.On Facebook, at least three others said they also got flat tires after driving through the area.From Tuesday through Friday, neighbors reported a road construction project that included restriping.On 10News at 5, we follow David Jessup as he makes the journey to the Caltrans subcontractor for answers and to give them back their lane markers. 1313

DETROIT (AP) — Honda is recalling over 1.6 million minivans and SUVs in the U.S. to fix problems that include faulty backup camera displays, malfunctioning dashboard lights, and sliding doors that don't latch properly. The problems were revealed in four recalls posted Tuesday by the government. They cover certain Odyssey minivans from 2018 to 2020, Pilot SUVs from 2019 through 2021, and Passport SUVs from 2019 and 2020. In a statement posted to its website, the company said they would fix the repairs for free."American Honda will voluntarily recall approximately 608,000 model-year 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, 2019-2020 Passport and 2019-2021 Pilot vehicles in the United States to complete one or more of four recall repairs, for free," the company said in the statement. "There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to these actions."Honda has traced the problems to faulty backup camera software programming, water entering door handles, water getting into camera mounting holes, and defective instrument panel software. DENVER — Convicted murderer Chris Watts has been moved from a Colorado prison to another prison out of state.Four sources confirm to KMGH's Jace Larson that Chris Watts was transferred from the Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, where a new prison inmate goes after conviction, to an undisclosed facility out of state. Victims’ families -- who requested to be alerted -- have been notified, two of the four sources with knowledge of the movement told KMGH. Watts' current location has not been identified, except to victims' families, the source said.Watts pleaded guilty last month to killing his pregnant wife Shanann Watts and their two young daughters at their home in Frederick, Colorado in August. He was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole.The Colorado Department of Corrections inmate locator shows Watts' location as the Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, but this is no longer the case.The move occurred as part of an interstate compact where high-profile prisoners can be moved to another state’s system, or occasionally the federal prison system, for safety. DENVER — Footage from a Ring Bell camera shows a runaway UPS truck careening backward down a street in a Denver neighborhood, and smashing into several parked vehicles.Erika Gaum said she was in her front yard with her young son cleaning out flowerbeds a few minutes before the crash happened on Dec. 2."I had just gone in to put him down for his nap," she said. "About 10 minutes later, I heard this massive explosion."Gaum said she peeked out the front door and saw a UPS truck pushed up against the neighbor's cars.Moments later, another neighbor came out and told her the UPS truck had sideswiped the Gaum's tow truck and trailer, too."After it hit the trailer, it kind of skidded along and then hit the fender and ripped the tire and bent the rim," she said.Gaum added that the impact knocked out rivets, busted a mirror, flattened two tires and knocked out a headlight.The UPS truck then slammed into three parked cars, one of them a Ford Taurus.Gabriela Agustin-Sanchez said her dad had put a lot of hard work and hard-earned cash into fixing up the Taurus."Cars are his passion. He's always working on cars, but that one was one of his most prized possessions, and he was very proud of it," she said.The back of that Taurus is now a crumpled heap of metal, rubber and plastic.According to the police report, the UPS driver, 21-year old Sagar Garung, said he was stopped to make a delivery and when he jumped back in and attempted to start the truck, it failed to start."Then it jumped out of gear and traveled southbound in reverse, at an unknown rate of speed, and collided with (Gaum's truck and the three cars,)" the report stated.Gaum said she and her husband own an auto shop."We're heading into the holidays and this is our work truck, so we kind of need some action," she said.Gaum added that she reached out to UPS several days in a row, to ask about the status of their damage claim, and each time was told "somebody will contact you by the end of the day.""That has yet to happen," she said.KMGH reached out to UPS to ask if there was an issue with the brakes, if the driver is still working for UPS, if there was another person on board the UPS truck, why the delay in reaching out to the victims and if UPS will be taking care of the damage.Matthew O'Connor, the senior manager of media relations, sent an email stating: "We’re thankful that everyone is safe. UPS’s highest priority is the safety of our employees and the communities we serve. We’re investigating the situation, cooperating with the responding authorities on their investigation, and will respond accordingly."Garung was issued a citation for operating an unsafe vehicle.Gaum said with everything that has happened in 2020, she's grateful no one was injured in the crash.Still, she hopes UPS responds sooner, rather than later."Call me UPS. DEL MAR (KGTV) - Beachgoers are asked to stay away from a section of shoreline near 8th Street in Del Mar because of a sewage spill Sunday.Del Mar city officials said a leak was reported around 11:30 this morning. Sewage was flowing out of a manhole near 8th Street, they said. A blockage in the sewer line caused about 4,200 gallons of sewage to seep out of the manhole and flow onto the beach. The blockage was fixed around 1 p.m., city officials said. People are asked to stay out of the water between 7th Street and 9th Street for the next 72 hours because of impacts to water quality. City officials will continue to test the water. 670
