A woman is suing Waffle House after saying she was served bleach in a drink she got from a restaurant in Georgia.Atavian Moore sued the restaurant chain Oct. 27, claiming the incident has cost her ,000 in medical bills so far, according to Atlanta's WSB-TV.Moore claims that when she was eating at a Waffle House in Lithonia, Georgia in October 2015, she was given a drink that had bleach in it. She assumes the bleach got in her drink after the restaurant cleaned its drink dispenser.WSB reported that Moore's lawsuit claimed she suffered injuries to her esophagus, stomach and other internal body parts because of the potentially deadly cocktail.According to the National Capital Poison Center, swallowing small amounts of bleach can cause mouth irritation and vomiting but when someone swallows a large amount of the chemical it can cause more serious problems.Clint Davis is a reporter for the Scripps National Desk. After making a go at in-person classes, a jump in COVID-19 cases on campus has prompted the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill to shift to virtual only for all undergraduate courses, the university announced Monday.UNC will start distance learning on Wednesday.The university reported 129 confirmed COVID-19 cases last week, and a jump in its positivity rate from 2.8% to 13.6%. The university said it has tested 954 students with 177 in isolation and 349 in quarantine. The university said that most of the infected students have mild symptoms. The university said graduate, professional and health affairs schools will continue to be taught as they are, or as directed by the schools.UNC will allow students to cancel residence hall housing without penalty in an effort to depopulate the campus.“There are no easy answers as the nation navigates through the pandemic,” UNC President Peter Hans said. “At this point, we haven’t received any information that would lead to similar modifications at any of our other universities. Whether at Chapel Hill or another institution, students must continue to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing, as their personal responsibility, particularly in off-campus settings, is critical to the success of this semester and to protect public health.”The university’s football team is still slated to play this fall, along with other members of the ACC. Two of the five “Power 5” conferences, the Pac-12 and Big 10, have opted to delay their seasons to the spring. According to New York Times data, the state was averaging 2,000 new cases per day, but that number has fallen to under 1,300. A Norwalk, Ohio man and Sunday school teacher is facing charges after having inappropriate sexual contact with a child in a church basement.Kenneth Rose is charged with gross sexual imposition of a child. He was the children's director at Milan Friends Church in Milan Township and had been volunteering there for six months.Rose is being held without bond while the Erie County Sheriff's Office investigates what exactly went on inside the church and if more than one child was involved.Two alleged incidents were reported by one child who was in his program. The girl said both incidents happened while her parents were in regular church service. One happened on Feb. 25, the other on March 18. "There was inappropriate sexual contact, so there was touching involved," Detective Sergeant Dennis Papineau with the Erie County Sheriff's Department said. He said the young girl went to her father and told him what her Sunday school teacher did to her."There was spanking involved," Detective Sergeant Papineau said. It happened in the church's basement, when no other kids were around."When this actually occurred, they were by themselves."Rose admitted guilt to investigators immediately. "He was cooperative with the investigation."Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland talked to the pastor of the church, Paul Campbell, on the phone. He didn't want to go on camera, but said the church is cooperating with investigators and trying to be as transparent as possible. Pastor Campbell said Rose never should have been with children alone, and they still aren't sure how this happened. Campbell said there were no other incidents reported to them. Rose is not listed as a sex offender and does not have a criminal history. Campbell said they're already talking about what they can do to make sure this never happens again. "This is an active investigation, and if there are any other victims we are asking them to come forward," Detective Sergeant Papineau said. 2084
