In Fort Collins, Colorado, there’s a place where athletes train seven days a week. The gym, run by Ryan Schultz, is called Trials Mixed Martial Arts and it’s not an ordinary gym.“This gym isn’t for your average person,” Schultz says “You’re going to be pushed here. You’re going to be tested. Overall, I think this place is for everybody. I think you just have to have the right mind set.” This gym is opened to athletes, and Schultz said that includes everyone. “If you’re an adaptive athlete, for example someone who had their leg removed, we have stuff for you as well here,” Schultz says. “But our mentality here is that there’s no laying down in life. Life doesn’t wait for anybody. I think that when people get a disease, or some sort of diagnosis it’s overwhelming for them and they tend to shut down. That’s more of the time to keep moving forward.” Schultz has multiple programs running through his gym. One of the programs was started by him and his friend Glenn Beach.“I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease five years ago,” Beach says. “And I’ve been training with Ryan to help treat it.” “Glenn brought to me the Rock Steady Program,” Schultz says. “I like Rock Steady, because they have research that proves this type of program works.”Rock Steady uses boxing to help those fighting Parkinson’s. Beach says this program changed his life. “I’ve had, I would say, a 100 percent improvement,” Beach says. “I had no control over my left hand. Now, I only have a subtle tremor every once in a while. It’s so much more manageable now, and a lot of it has to do with the training I got through Rock Steady.” The course is offered three times a week, and the workouts take about one hour. Beach says that the class does progress assessments every six to 12 months. According to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, it's estimated 1 million people in the United States are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The foundation reports more than 60,000 people are diagnosed each year. 1999
INDIANAPOLIS — "I didn't know what to think. I was still in shock like how did the fire even happen?"Rachel McRee was in the restroom when she heard a loud explosion come from the kitchen where her boyfriend, Raveen Sugantheraj, had been cooking. "We didn't even realize that he had been burned," McRee said. The kitchen was on fire. So our first priority was putting that out."Once the couple finally put the fire out near the stove top, they realized that Sugantheraj had been severely burned. "It's his arms, his face, his neck, his hands, his ear," McRee said. "I feel terrible for him and the pain that he's in. I just feel horrible, you know, he's in so much pain," she said. "I've watched him get his bandage changed. He's got raw skin. It's like ten to 15 percent of his body that's just burnt off."Sugantheraj was in the hospital undergoing surgery on Friday."They're having to do skin grafts, severe ones. One is going to be pigskin, one's going to be his own skin," Sugantheraj's girlfriend said. She is not sure of his recovery time. The cause of the fire? A can of Pam cooking spray kept too close to open flames. "He's a full-time med student. He's educated. He's very smart... He had no idea - I had no idea," McRee said. "We know to keep cooking oil away, especially not on the stove top, but we had placed it far enough to where we thought it was OK."The medical director in Eskenazi's emergency department, Dr. Tyler Stepsis, said aerosol bottles like Pam make oils even more flammable. She said that this is a common occurrence. "You not only have the thing your aerosolizing but you also have the propellant. And the propellant a lot of times is what can catch fire," Dr. Stepsis said. As a warning: "When you set it down, don't put it by your stove, put it very far away because I don't want this to happen to anybody else," McRee said. Doctors say, bottom line, know what you're cooking with and keep it a safe distance from flames. RTV6 reached out to the company that makes Pam, and they told the newsroom:"Like other aerosols, PAM Cooking Sprays are flammable, and its contents are under pressure. All PAM Cooking Sprays include warnings on the front and back of the packaging warning consumers that the product is flammable."The company also added that it should not be left on a stove or near a heat source, should not be sprayed near an open flame and should not be stored above 120 degrees Fahrenheit. If you have a problem and need help getting results, connect with RTV6 by emailing us at workingforyou.com. 2549

INDIANAPOLIS — The shiny red and white truck was supposed to be shipped to Anderson, Indiana, last month.Shawn Abernathy and his fiance Tiffany found the truck listed on Facebook Marketplace by a page called AMS Car Sales."It was a 1997 Ford F250 it looked brand new. I mean they sent us a video of it it ran beautiful," Abernathy said. After several emails with the owner, who claimed to be a widow, they paid ,200."They asked us to get six eBay cards at 0 a piece to do the down payment. The agreement was we would get the down payment paid and the vehicle would be delivered," Abernathy said.Abernathy was then asked to pay even more money."When we declined they said hold on we will put you over to the financial department and the phone went dead," Abernathy said. "I was pretty upset. I buckled. It tore me up. It destroyed our Christmas. We're still trying to recover from it. Twelve-hundred dollars is a pretty good loss."The manager of AMS Cars on the west side of Indianapolis at 10th Street and Raceway Road said his business has received thousands of phone calls from customers asking about vehicles they found on fake Facebook posts. Their message is if the car is not on their official website, it is not available."A lot of angry customers," AMS Cars manager Sam Sodhi said. "A majority of our time, about 5-7 people that work here go in every day to explain to people whether they are on on the phone email, text message, walk in, 'Hey, kindly report it. Please help us.'"Sodhi said AMS Cars received more than 8,000 phone calls in December about cars they don't have in stock. They posted a scam warning online and recorded a message that plays when customers call their office.Sodhi said he wants customers to do their research, Google the cars VIN number, know the difference between the two Facebook pages and always check their website to verify the vehicle.Scripps station WRTV in Indianapolis is waiting on a response from Facebook to see if anything can be done about the AMS Car Sales page. Sodhi said fake pages have been deleted over the past month, but new ones reappear. The FBI said scams like this are increasing and it is up to the victim to report a scam, which Abernathy has done."I hope it goes away, I hope it never comes back to us or anyone else," Sodhi said. 2312

It is that time of year when young female entrepreneurs converge on doorsteps and storefronts across the United States to sell sweet baked goods. Wednesday marks the start of Girl Scout cookie season, and in addition to the classics, Girl Scouts will also be selling a new cookie flavor. The new cookie is caramel chocolate chip. According to Girl Scouts of America, it consists of caramel, semisweet chocolate chips and a hint of sea salt in a chewy, gluten-free cookie. It is the first new cookie unveiled by the Girl Scouts since 2015. The number of cookie offerings from the Girl Scouts is now up to 12. Cookie prices vary nationally as proceeds stay with local scout groups."Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, cookie customers help fund life-changing Girl Scout experiences while building the next generation of female entrepreneurs," said GSUSA CEO Sylvia Acevedo. "And because all Girl Scout Cookie proceeds stay local to power year-round troop projects and activities, when you buy Girl Scout Cookies you are making an investment in girls and in your local community. Although there is not a direct online ordering option, individual scouts and their groups can offer their supply through the Girl Scouts’ digital cookie program. For more info, click 1275
