SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A disheveled man stabbed two strangers within a block of each other Friday in North Park and failed to commandeer the second victim's car, authorities reported.The unidentified assailant -- who looked to be about 30 years old and homeless -- first attacked a 25-year-old pedestrian in the 4200 block of Ohio Street about 8 a.m., stabbing him in the leg and running into a nearby supermarket parking lot, according to San Diego police.A short time later, he tried to steal a 57-year-old man's car near the intersection of Howard Avenue and 30th Street, but when the victim resisted, the assailant stabbed him three or four times in the right arm, then fled on foot to the south, Sgt. He faces up to five years in prison.The U.S. attorney's office says Martin passed confidential information from law enforcement databases to crooks who posed as Homeland Security agents and conned more than 100 immigrants into paying exorbitant fees for green cards they never received.When the FBI interviewed Martin in 2017, he denied passing on information. SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Searchers are combing a section of the San Bernardino Mountains for signs of a missing off-duty firefighter. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says the search Saturday is focusing on an area of Highway 18 where Carlos Baltazar’s car was located by the California Highway Patrol on Sept. 20. Baltazar is a member of a U.S. Forest Service Interagency Hotshot Crew. He was reported missing by family members on Sept. 24. At the time, he was off duty and not in the area of the El Dorado Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest. Another hotshot, Charles Morton, died while fighting that fire on Sept. 17. 654

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 17-year-old girl was shot Tuesday morning during an argument inside a Rolando apartment, San Diego police said.Shortly after 12:35 a.m., a security guard reported hearing an argument followed by a gunshot inside of an apartment in the 4700 block of Seminole Drive, near Stanley Avenue off 63rd Street and El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims said.The security guard also reported seeing people run away after the shooting, Heims said.
