Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) introduced a new bill Monday that would require anyone buying tobacco products — including e-cigarettes or vaping products — be 21 years old.The bill, which is co-sponsored by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Virginia), would follow in the footsteps of 14 other states that have already raised the minimum age to buy tobacco products to 21."Youth vaping is a public health crisis," McConnell said on the Senate floor. "It's our responsibility as parents and public servants to do everything we can to keep these harmful products out of high schools."In 2018, the 594

Residents in Freeport, Grand Bahamas woke up to severely flooded neighborhoods on Tuesday following the devastation left by Hurricane Dorian. United Nations officials estimate more than 60,000 people in the northwest Bahamas will need food following the catastrophic natural disaster. Tim Aylen, a Bahamian journalist assisting The Associated Press with the hurricane coverage, had to abandon his home with his family due to the flooding. Speaking about some of his work, Aylen said he had no idea he would be shooting pictures of himself and his family evacuating their home as part of his coverage. Early Tuesday, Aylen could be seen wadding through chest-level flood waters as he made his way through the streets of Arden Forest in Freeport. His 21-year-old daughter Julia Aylen, and 17-year-old son Matthew Aylen, along with their three dogs were seeking higher ground Tuesday morning, with images showing their exhaustion from the ordeal. A spokesman for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said Tuesday about 45% of homes in Grand Bahama and Abaco were severely damaged or destroyed. The organization was aiming help 20,000 of the most vulnerable people, including a large Haitian community, the spokesman said. 1260

SAN FRANCISCO — Federal and state officials in California were preparing Monday to receive thousands of people from a cruise ship that was idling off the coast of San Francisco with at least 21 people aboard infected with the coronavirus. The ship docked around midday Monday as officials prepared to begin to slowly disembark passengers and crew. The process could take several days. Fences were being installed at an 11-acre site at the Port of Oakland, as authorities readied flights and buses to whisk the more than 2,000 passengers aboard the Grand Princess to military bases or their home countries for a 14-day quarantine. There are more than 3,500 passengers on the ship, who hail from 54 countries. Questions have surrounded the cruise ship since reports surfaced last week that one person had died of COVID-19 aboard the ship. After the cases of the virus were concerned, the ship has attempted to quarantine passengers in their rooms and asked the passengers to practice "social distancing" by standing about six feet away from each other.Princess Cruises also operated the Diamond Princess, a ship that was moored for weeks in February off the coast of Japan after passengers tested positive for the coronavirus. Ultimately, about 700 passengers tested positive for the virus and seven people died. The quarantine practices used on the Diamond Princess have been questioned since passengers disembarked. The U.S. death toll from the virus reached at least 21 and the number of cases worldwide soared above 110,000. 1538

Radioactivity was detected on the oven, vacuum filter and bone crusher of an Arizona crematory where a deceased man who'd received radiation therapy was incinerated, according to a new case report. Worse still, a radioactive compound unrelated to the dead man was detected in the urine of an employee there."It is plausible that the crematory operator was exposed while cremating other human remains," Dr. Nathan Yu of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and his co-authors wrote in the 529
