The only Louisville police officer who was charged with a crime relating to the raid that resulted in the death of Breonna Taylor has been accused of sexual assault.According to WAVE-TV in Louisville, a woman has filed a lawsuit against former Louisville Metro Police Department Officer Brett Hankison, accusing him of assaulting her after he gave her a ride home from a bar where he was working security.According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff, Margo Borders, met Hankison through mutual friends in 2017. In 2018, Border met friends at Tin Roof, a bar west of downtown Louisville where Hankison was working a side job as a security guard.Borders said she had been drinking that evening, and when she went to call an Uber, Hankison insisted that he drive her home. When he dropped her off at her apartment, he allegedly invited himself in. Borders alleges that when she went to sleep, Hankison "willfully, intentionally, painfully and violently sexually assaulted" her. When Borders regained consciousness, she yelled at Hankison and asked him to leave. Borders alleges that Hankison later messaged her and allegedly tried to convince her that they had "engaged in consensual relations."The lawsuit also includes claims from nine other women who say Hankison either approached them with unwanted sexual advances or assaulted them.CNN reports that Hankison's police file includes 50 internal reports, including two reports of alleged sexual misconduct. He was exonerated in both incidents.Hankison was fired from the LMPD earlier this year. He faces three charges of wanton endangerment for his actions in the raid that led to the death of Breonna Taylor, as he's accused of firing his weapon and endangering the lives of Taylor's neighbors. No officers involved in the raid faced homicide charges in Taylor's death, and Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron has said the officer's actions were justified because they were fired upon by Taylor's boyfriend. However, grand jurors who weighed charges for the officers have said publicly that Cameron did not afford them the opportunity to charge officers with a homicide. 2127

The price of wine is going up.Global wine production slumped to its lowest level in 60 years in 2017, according to data from the International Organisation of Vine and Wine. The most recent harvest produced 25 billion liters of wine, a decrease from 26.7 billion in 2016 and 27.6 billion in 2015. The decline was driven by weak harvests in key markets including Europe and South Africa. The shortage has caused the wholesale price of basic wine in Italy to skyrocket 74% over the previous year, according to the European Commission. Prices are up 45% in Spain and over 10% in France.Analysts said that producers, dealers and retailers will absorb some of the price hikes, but consumers will end up paying more -- especially for cheaper bottles."The wine companies that are targeting very low prices ... will be hit the worst, because their margins are very low," said Stephen Rannekleiv, a global beverages strategist at Rabobank. "When prices go up, it puts a lot of strain on them."Reduced supply will also hurt quality."There will be, in some cases, lower quality wines getting blended into slightly higher value products, so everyone kind of goes down a tier in quality," said Rannekleiv.Producers were hardest hit in Europe, where heavy hailstorms and harsh frosts damaged vineyards in early 2017 before a summer drought took its toll. The continent accounts for 65% of global wine production, and 57% of consumption.European production dropped 15% in 2017. Production fell 21% in Italy, 18% in France and 15% in Spain, according to the Commission.Other regions had problems, too.Wildfires destroyed or tainted some of the harvest in California, and drought harmed vineyards in South Africa. Warm weather can cause grapes to ripen early and be smaller in size.Rannekleiv said the result was a global harvest that was even worse than analysts had feared. The pain could spread to other industries.Rannekleiv said the slump in production means there will be less wine to divert for use in other products. Brandy and vinegar makers could be hurt, for example. 2067

The mother of a Florida child who was punched in the face by an adult is wondering why the man was not arrested. “He was screaming at us, cursing at us, calling us the 'n-word' and he came down to the middle of his yard, and I was like 'who are you talking too,' and he said 'come within arm's reach and I'll show you who I'm talking to,'" said Malikai Villatte, the 12-year-old boy who was punched.  A picture of Malikai after the incident showed his two front teeth were knocked out. The young boy also received stitches to heal a gash on his mouth. “When I realized my teeth were dangling in my mouth it was kind of shocking, I didn't know what was going on," Malikai said. “It was like a nightmare, I just knew I had to get there and I had to get there fast," said Malikai's mother Brittany Graham. His parents are upset because the man who punched Malikai was not arrested. Lataevion Graham, 13, says he witnessed the incident and claims Cerfalo spat on them after punching Malikai. Graham's father says he wants justice for the children. “Where it is okay for an adult to take the law into their own hands, and to strike a kid hard enough to knock out his teeth. Where is that acceptable, in what country is that acceptable?" said Larry Graham. According to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the man who punched Malikai was 27-year-old Vincent Cerfalo.“Originally this is where the altercation took place, right here," Cerfalo said.“I told them to back off and if they come on my property I'm going to defend myself. They said, 'you won't hit us, you won't hit us,' and they started to surround me," said Cerfalo. He says it all started when he yelled at the kids to get out of the road because they were blocking traffic.A cellphone video captured the moments after Malikai was punched. Cerfalo claims he was acting in self defense.“He touched me and I lifted my hand out, and I ended up hitting him. It was not my intention to hit anybody that hard, it was not my intention to knock teeth out or do harm, or cause any kind of trouble,” Cerfalo said. The children say no one touched Cerfalo at any time during the incident. Cerfalo says he never expected things to escalate to violence. He now plans to press charges against 12-year-old Malikai for assault, which the child’s parents can’t understand. “He's not going to jail, nothing is happening to him and he's basically getting away with it right now," Malikai said.“I want the man in jail," said Brittany Graham.  The case has been sent to the state attorney’s office, which will determine if a summons will be issued to Malikai for assault.  2750

The man who confronted and helped stop a gunman at a Tennessee Waffle House has released a mini-documentary early Tuesday morning, to mark one month since the attack that left four people dead.James Shaw Jr. released the video on YouTube. It's set to the Drake song "God's Plan," and shows the moments Shaw presented the families of the victims with large checks from a GoFundMe campaign Shaw launched after the shootings. Shaw presented the donations to the families privately last week on the campus of Tennessee State University.Shaw raised more than 0,000 in the online campaign.Shaw is credited with saving lives during the April shooting. He told police he was able to wrestle the gunman's AR-15 away from him. Shaw said in a social media post that the documentary is meant to honor the four victims: DeEbony Groves, Akilah DaSilva, Joe Perez, and Taurean Sanderlin. 913

The number of missing in Californian wildfires has soared to 631, as authorities added hundreds of names to the lists of the unaccounted for Thursday, in what has become the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in the state's history.Butte County Sheriff and Coroner Kory Honea said Thursday evening the death toll from the Camp Fire in northern California had grown to 63 people. Seven sets of remains were discovered Thursday, he said.At least two other people have been killed in another, separate wildfire in Southern California, putting the state's death toll at 65 since the two blazes began last week.On Friday hundreds of rescue personnel -- deputies, National Guard troops and coroners -- dressed in white overalls sifted through smoldering rubble and checked mangled cars, searching for human remains.Honea said the number of names on the missing list soared after investigators added information from callers who rang the dispatch center on the day the fire erupted and reported people who were missing in the chaos. Some of the names on the Butte County list appear more than once and it's not clear if any are duplicates. Officials have said it's hard to determine the number of missing, because some people may have evacuated and can't be reached with cell phone service unreliable due to the fire."There are a lot of people displaced and we're finding a lot of people don't know we are looking for them," Honea said. The fire turned the hard-hit town of Paradise into ash and debris and also devastated the nearby communities of Magalia and Concow. Honea said three sets of remains were found Thursday in Paradise, three in Magalia and one in Concow.Honea has invited relatives of the missing to visit the sheriff's office in Oroville so authorities can collect DNA samples from them. The DNA will be used to help identify fire victims, Honea said."This is a daunting task. We feel really bad for the people who don't know what happened to their loved ones and our hearts go out to them," Butte County Sheriff's Investigations Sgt. Steve Collins said. "We want to give them some answers." 2132
