Dozens of common breakfast cereals and snack bars have trace amounts of a controversial herbicide found in the weed killer Roundup, according to a report released today by an environmental advocacy group.The Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that 26 of the 28 products it tested had levels of Roundup's main ingredient, glyphosate, that were "higher than what EWG scientists consider protective of children's health." California's proposed glyphosate limit, which would be the most restrictive in the country, still allows for glyphosate levels that are over a hundred times higher than the EWG's threshold.The environmental group says its lower threshold includes an added buffer for children, as "exposure during early life can have more significant effects on development later in life," according to Dr. Alexis Temkin, the lead scientist on EWG report.But manufacturers dispute that threshold. Eight college football games scheduled this weekend have been canceled due to the spread of the coronavirus. Among them, the championship game between unbeaten Coastal Carolina and Top 25 Louisiana-Lafayette was called off.The Sun Belt Conference canceled the contest because of a positive COVID-19 test from a member of Coastal Carolina, which resulted in an entire position group being forced to quarantine in order to follow protocol.“We are very disappointed that the championship game cannot be played, but we are so proud of all of the players and staff members and their hard work during this truly challenging season," said Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill. "We will honor both teams as 2020 Sun Belt Conference Co-Champions."Coastal Carolina defeated Louisiana in October by a 30-27 margin.Of the eight college football games canceled this weekend, five include a Top 25 team.The upcoming college football weekend features several big matchups that will determine the four teams that will be invited to the College Football Playoff. (KGTV) - A single mom's heart dropped when discovered her empty parking spot outside an El Cajon apartment.Two days after Christmas, Heather Williams' holiday cheer vanished when she stepped outside her apartment on North Mollison Ave."I came out to go to the grocery store and just stared at the empty parking spot ... My world just started spinning," said Williams.The 1997 white Honda Civic she bought used a few years ago was gone."I feel like a crappy mom. Someone took our vehicle," said Williams.It's Williams' only vehicle. Her kids go to two different high schools in El Cajon. "I have no way to get my kids to and from school. I don't know what I'm going to do," said Williams.Williams also fears her son may have to quit his job at a bait and tackle shop in Lakeside. The car was his only means of getting to work."It's his dream job. He loves fishing ... He's very upset," said Williams.Family members are also puzzled. Williams says she secured the car with an anti-theft gear shift lock."It covers the emergency break and extends to the gear shift. It's supposedly better than 'The Club' and how they got it off, I don't know," said Williams.One possibility: the thief could have loaded the car onto a flatbed truck. Willaims says there are two parrot stickers attached to the car, one on the back and one on the back windshield. The license plate of the stolen car is 3-T-M-J-2-9-5. Drivers in New Orleans are claiming that they have been issued speeding tickets, even though their cars are in park, thanks to a speed camera operating in the city, WWL-TV reported. Donald Schulz told WWL that he has been issued speeding citations 10 or 11 times while his car remained parked. The camera, which is designed to ticket speeders, captured Schulz's license plate, instead of the car passing by Schulz's car. Schulz has had to make frequent stops at New Orleans City Hall to fight citations, causing him a headache and time wasted. "Whoever is responsible for reviewing these violations is not doing their job," Schulz told WWL.According to Fox News, the citations range from to 0.  City officials told WWL that a contractor is to blame, and that the contractor will train its employee how to properly issue citations.  906

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Neighbors say two elderly residents of the Lincoln Palms Apartment in El Cajon were taken to the hospital Wednesday, after an explosion on Lincoln Avenue. New resident Jorge Limon told 10News Reporter Rina Nakano he and his grilfriend Samantha were unpacking when they noticed an odd smell. Later, they heard what sounded like two explosions. "We thought somebody threw a table out of the window or something. But then we saw the smoke and fire," Limon said, adding that he immediately grabbed his fire extinguisher to help.  The explosion happened on the first floor of the building around 8 p.m., just below Limon's new apartment.Fire crews arrived four minutes after the 911 call, but were surprised to see that the flames were already out when they arrived. With his extinguisher, Limon was able to put out the flames. The explosion shattered the windows of the downstairs unit, leaving the curtains and glass all around the pool. Inside Limon found the two elderly residents, who he said both suffered injuries. "They both went ot the burn center, which means they had enough burns to where it was a concern," said Heartland Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Bent Koch. San Diego Gas & Electric, El Cajon Police and several other agencies are investigating what caused the explosion. Limon told 10News his fire extinguisher was no accident. "I made a big deal to bring it," he said.
