KIGALI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived here on Sunday for a state visit to Rwanda, the first by a Chinese head of state to the African country.
Representatives from the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering reported their work at the meeting.
Stressing that the sustained and stable development of China's relations with UNESCO was conducive to global peace and prosperity, Xi said China attached great importance to UNESCO and firmly supported the important role UNESCO had played in advancing global development.
"Let's be clear: the Chinese government has never made any such request to foreign companies," he said. "When it comes to technology or any other cooperation between Chinese and foreign companies, it is purely a matter of voluntary contracts."
"This is the most important achievement of this leader's meeting and highlights the global significance of China-EU relations," Zhang added.
