Now, researchers say they have details of larger reptiles, alligators, regrowing their tail.A team of scientists from Arizona State University and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries were surprised to discover the alligators have the ability to regrow their tails up to 9 inches. Their report was recently published in Scientific Reports.“Overall, this study of wild-caught, juvenile American alligator tails identifies a distinct pattern of wound repair in mammals while exhibiting features in common with regeneration in lepidosaurs and amphibia,” the researchers concluded.The wild-caught alligators most likely lost their tails by traumatic injury, the scientists stated. The team also had samples of regrown tails from alligators who had died."The regrown skeleton was surrounded by connective tissue and skin but lacked any skeletal muscle (which lizard tails do regenerate with)," Kenro Kusumi, co-senior study author and professor and director of ASU's School of Life Sciences and associate dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, told CNN.Even without muscles, a regrown tail is important for alligators’ survival.The team hopes their research will help scientists working on regenerative therapies in humans. I’m hoping it’ll be a fun way to break up some of the monotony," said Streets.With a young daughter and a second child arriving in October, Streets found himself with limited spots to set up shop inside his home.“It’ll give me a place to come and work quietly," said Streets.Instead of rakes and shovels, Streets filled the shed with all the tools he needs to help his students grow despite being miles apart.“I wanted to make this a more fun and enjoyable experience for myself, but also for the students," said Streets.The consistency of connecting in this newly-created classroom, which has been dubbed the "Mr. Streets Center for Remote Sheducation," is not only expected to help Streets stay focused; he says it will also do the same for his students.“It’ll feel more comforting, it’ll feel predictable, it’ll feel like a routine," said Streets.Streets said there's a lesson his students can learn from the new workspace and that is you have to make the best of a challenging moment.“We’re gonna have a good time, we’re gonna learn some stuff. TEXAS — A 78-year-old man has confessed to 90 killings, and investigators are saying he could be one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history.Samuel Little is currently being held in a Texas prison. Investigators have confirmed 34 cases so far, and the FBI said in a news release Tuesday that more are pending confirmation. The killings Little has claimed responsibility for include a black female in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1974 and a white female in Covington, Kentucky in 1984, according to the FBI. Little said he met that second victim in Columbus, Ohio and disposed of her body somewhere in Northern Kentucky.
