BOULDER, Colo. – Police have released a sketch of a woman they believe assaulted a 12-year-old boy who was holding a Trump sign while riding his bicycle earlier this week. The boy, who spoke with Denver7 on Wednesday, says he was riding his bicycle Monday afternoon when a woman o a moped driving south on Folsom Street spotted him, made a U-turn, drove up to him, and said, “you want something to look at?”The boy said the woman then used one of her fists to strike him in the back of the head and arms several times, and also caused a scratch on the boy’s left arm.A police report from Boulder police states the woman then reportedly tried to take the Trump sign from the boy’s hands, who was using it to defend himself against the attack before she took off.The boy described the woman as white, in her late 20’s to mid-’30s with blondish brown hair past her shoulders. She was last seen wearing a small tan jacket, a blue shirt, and blue jeans and was riding a grayish-blue moped with a black seat.Anyone who may have information on this alleged assault is asked to can Detective Kevin Marples at 303-441-3345 or visit https://bouldercolorado.gov/police/submit-a-crime-tip to submit a tip online. Those who have information but wish to remain anonymous may contact the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477. Blogger John Schmoll’s father left a financial mess when he died: a house that was worth far less than the mortgage, credit card bills in excess of ,000—and debt collectors who insisted the son was legally obligated to pay what his father owed.Fortunately, Schmoll knew better.“I’ve been working in financial services for two decades,” says Schmoll, an Omaha, Nebraska, resident who was a stockbroker before starting his site, Frugal Rules. “I knew that I wasn’t responsible.”Baby boomers are expected to transfer trillions to their heirs in coming years. But many people will inherit little more than a pile of bills.Nearly half of seniors die owning less than ,000 in financial assets, according to a 2012 study for the National Bureau of Economic Research. Meanwhile, debt among older Americans is soaring. It used to be relatively unusual to have a mortgage or credit card debt in retirement. Now, 23 percent of those older than 75 have mortgages, a four-fold increase since 1989, and 26 percent have credit card debt, a 159 percent increase, according to the Federal Reserve’s latest data from the 2016 Survey of Consumer Finances .If your parents are among those likely to die in debt, here’s what you need to know. You (probably) aren’t responsible for their debts. When people die, their?debts don’t disappear. Those debts are now owed by their estates. Some estates don’t have enough assets (property, investments and cash) to pay all of the bills, so some of those bills just don’t get paid. Spouses may have the responsibility for certain debts, depending on state law, but survivors who aren’t spouses usually don’t have to pay what’s owed unless they co-signed for the debt or applied for credit together with the person who died. What’s more, assets that pass directly to heirs often don’t have to be used to pay the estate’s debts. These assets can include “pay on death” bank accounts, life insurance policies, retirement plans and other accounts that name beneficiaries, as long as the beneficiary isn’t the estate.“You take it and go home,” says Jennifer Sawday, an estate planning attorney in Long Beach, California. You need a laywer. Some parents hope to avoid creditors or the costs of probate, which is the court process that typically follows a death, by adding a child’s name to a house deed or transferring the property entirely. Either of those moves can cause legal and tax consequences and should be discussed with a lawyer first. After a parent dies, the executor must follow state law in determining how limited funds are distributed and can be held personally responsible for mistakes. That makes consulting a lawyer a smart idea — and the estate typically would pay the costs. (The costs of administering an estate are considered high-priority debts that are paid before other bills, such as credit cards.)At his attorney’s advice, Schmoll sent letters to his dad’s creditors explaining the estate was insolvent, then formally closed the estate according to the probate laws of Montana, where his dad had lived.A lawyer also can advise you how to proceed if a parent isn’t just insolvent, but also doesn’t have any assets at all. In that situation, there may not be a reason to open up a probate case and deal with collectors, Sawday says.“Sometimes, I advise clients just to lay the person to rest and do nothing,” Sawday says. “Let a creditor handle it.”You need to take meticulous notes. The financial lives of people in debt are often chaotic — and sorting it all out can take time. As executor of his dad’s estate, Schmoll dealt with over a dozen collection agencies, utilities and lenders, often talking  to multiple people about a single account. He kept a document where he tracked details such as the names of people he talked to, dates and times of the conversations, what was said and required follow-up actions as well as reference numbers for various accounts. You shouldn’t believe what debt collectors tell you. Some collectors told Schmoll he had a moral obligation to pay his father’s debts, since the borrowed money might have been spent on the family. Schmoll knew they were trying to exploit his desire to do the right thing, and advises others in similar situations not to let debt collectors play on their emotions.“Just don’t make a snap decision, because it’s very easy to say, ‘You know what? I need to think about it. Let me call you back,’” Schmoll says. This article was written by NerdWallet and was originally published by The Associated Press. More From NerdWallet 4587

Boeing has unveiled its newest line of business jets, which the company says will allow VIP travelers to fly nonstop between "any two cities on Earth."The BBJ 777X planes will have a range of 11,645 nautical miles (21,570 km), enabling them to offer the longest commercial flight in the world.Depending on which routes the jets are used on, the new models mean Boeing could wrestle the crown for farthest nonstop travel away from Airbus.Earlier this year, Singapore Airlines resumed its 17-hour flights between London and Singapore on Airbus A350-900 ULR (Ultra-Long Range) jets. But the distance traveled on the record-breaking flights is a mere 9,000 nautical miles (16,700 kilometers), putting it below the range Boeing's new jets are capable of.The planes "can fly more than halfway around the world without stopping, farther than any business jet ever built," the company said in a statement."Our most exclusive customers want to travel with the best space and comfort and fly directly to their destination. The new BBJ 777X will be able to do this like no other airplane before it, redefining ultra-long range VIP travel," Greg Laxton, head of Boeing Business Jets, added at the Middle East Business Aviation Association Show (MEBAA).The jets could be used to connect New York City with Perth in Western Australia, a journey which currently requires a connection and takes more than a day to make. Two versions of the jets have been made, the BBJ 777-8 and 777-9, with the latter offering a slightly shorter range of 11,000 nautical miles (20,370 kilometers) but boasting a larger cabin. The company has released renderings of the plane's interior, although it has not sold any of the planes yet.Other business jets produced by Boeing include the BBJ MAX and high-performance versions of its 787 Dreamliner.Since forming in 1996, Boeing Business Jets has delivered 234 jets on 261 orders. 1909

Bill Cosby's trial on three counts of aggravated indecent assault is now in the hands of the 12-person jury.Jurors received the case Wednesday shortly after 11 a.m.The case against Cosby centers on testimony from Andrea Constand, a former employee with Temple University women's basketball team. She testified that Cosby, a powerful trustee at Temple, drugged her and sexually assaulted her when she visited his home to ask for career advice in a Philadelphia suburb in January 2004. 491
