POWAY, Calif. A second test Friday showed the water was safe.RELATED COVERAGE:-- Poway could face fines as water boil advisory continues-- Poway boil water advisory continues despite positive tests-- Poway Unified School District sends parents action plan after water boil advisory issuedPoway has been under a boil water advisory since Nov. 30 after numerous residents reported brownish water coming out of faucets the day before. The city’s Public Works Department said it secured the stormwater outlet on Dec. 1 to eliminate any future backflow. The affected section of Clearwell Reservoir was disinfected and refilled earlier this week, the city said. The water issue had a negative impact on businesses, especially some Poway restaurants which had to shut down. The order also forced may residents and businesses to rely on bottled water, which the city provided daily. As residents and businesses return to normal, the city reminded everyone to flush water pipes by running water until its clear, do not use water if it is discolored, replace any water filters and flush water dispensers, and for businesses to sanitize all machines they may utilize tap water and all fixtures, sinks, dishes and utensils.Businesses that have any concerns can also call the Department of Environmental Health at 858-565-5255. 1669

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Some North County students of color are sharing their experiences of racism anonymously in an Instagram page called "Black in PUSD."The social media account is described as "a safe space for current and graduated students in Poway Unified School District to anonymously share their experiences with racism.""We were originally inspired to start this during the Black Lives Matter movement, we thought it was a good idea to showcase the black experience in our community," said one of the page creators. The creators want to remain anonymous so they aren't targeted, but they shared with ABC 10News their encounters with racism."A girl once told me her father interrogated her after seeing us walking together, and he asked her who I was, why she was speaking to me, and if she was safe," one person on the page said. The page has more than 3,600 followers and dozens of posts. But the creators want to do more than bring awareness."In bringing awareness to these issues, we can create a more inclusive environment through better education," the creators said. "And just overall changing up the curriculum, so students understand the history of what people of color had had to face."In addition, they said they wanted to see more diversity in the staff and faculty. On Thursday, the school board is set to vote on an anti-racism resolution, something the district says was already in the works."In it, there's a commitment from PUSD to have more diverse staffing, increases expanded anti-bias training not just for students but all staff," said Christine Paik, chief communications officer at Poway Unified.Paik also encourages students to report incidents involving staff or peers."That way, we can actually follow up, investigate and get back to the complainant in terms of what we were able to do," she said. 1841

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A top official says federal militarized officers will remain in Portland, Oregon, until attacks on the U.S. courthouse cease. The mayors of six U.S. cities are appealing to Congress to make it illegal for the U.S. government to deploy militarized agents to cities that don’t want them. The mayors of Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Kansas City, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Washington wrote to leaders of the U.S. House and Senate pushing for limits on agent deployments. Early Monday, U.S. agents repeatedly fired what appeared to be tear gas, flash bangs and pepper balls at protesters.Portland Police also reported that Molotov cocktails and firearms have been confiscated near the courthouse. Two people were reportedly detained near the courthouse on Sunday as at least one gun shot was heard near the presence of federal agents. 861

Popular digital marketplace Groupon has changed its cancellation policy after some people complained it was too restrictive. Before, once you purchased something in the marketplace, you had 24 hours to cancel your purchase. However, some businesses changed their hours of operation or how many people the business could support at once thanks to the pandemic, so customers would be losing their money on these purchases. Now, Groupon offers customers 72 hours to cancel any purchases, just in case. Even with the extended grace period though, some say it's still a good idea to call ahead and double-check how a business is operating."Figuring out what the business looks like, have their hours been affected, are they temporarily closed because of COVID and if they are open it’s not a bad idea to call and see if they are honoring the group because so many businesses are being affected by COVID," Sara Kemerer, a Tri-State public relations specialist with the Better Business Bureau, said to WCPO.On its coronavirus update page, Groupon said if your voucher was extended past its expiration date, you'd receive an email with the new expiration date.Groupon also said you can check your My Groupons on your account to see if the expiration date has been extended. Groupon said the new expiration date will be listed next to your voucher. This story was first reported by Timyka Artist at WCPO in Cincinnati, Ohio. 1420
