On Wednesday morning, a viral post on Twitter claimed that there were more ballots cast in Wisconsin than registered voters. As the Wisconsin Elections Commission helped to explain, this claim is not supported by data. The tweet, which has since been removed, claimed that there were only 3,129,000 registered voters in Wisconsin. However, that number is from the 2018 midterms. Wisconsinites Cast Their Votes On Election Day [PHOTOS]Get Live Results Here After the post went viral, the Wisconsin Election Commission posted a tweet discussing the number of ballots in comparison to the number of registered voters in the state. The election commission said the State of Wisconsin had 3,684,726 active registered voters as of Nov. 1. That is higher than the number of ballots counted so far, which is 3,240,275. The WEC also pointed out that Wisconsin allows for same-day voter registration, which could further increase the number of total voters. The State of Wisconsin had 3,684,726 active registered voters on November 1, 2020. Wisconsin has election day registration, which means that the VR numbers some counties report in their unofficial results are not a true indictor of registration.https://t.co/3TknriWGI2— Wisconsin Elections (@WI_Elections) November 4, 2020 Now, the viral tweet has been removed from Twitter because it "is disputed and might be misleading about an election or other civic process." AURORA, Colo. -- For a two-and-a-half-month-old baby, Huntleigh has gone through a lot. She was born with her organs outside her body due to a rare birth defect called Omphalocele. "Omphalocele is a developmental anomaly that is a failure of the normal enfolding of the baby during development,” said Dr. Ken Liechty, a pediatric and fetal surgeon at Children's Hospital Colorado. Basically, omphalocele means organs like the stomach, bowel, and intestines are outside the baby’s abdominal wall, but still inside a sack. Surgeons are challenged with assessing each individual case and getting those organs back into the baby’s body. Thankfully, for Huntleigh, that surgical correction was possible almost immediately after birth. "Her organs and intestine were slowly reduced back into her abdomen – similar to rolling up a tube of toothpaste where you’re slowly pushing things back down into the abdomen and then closing the muscles over it,” Dr. Liechty said. Every case is different, and some are more severe. But overall, the birth defect is quite rare. According to 1084

ABBOTT PARK, Ill. – As the coronavirus continues to spread and the need for more testing grows with it, labs across the U.S. are racing to get approval for their tests for COVID-19. The company Abbott is one of them. “Abbott was able to get an emergency use authorization for a new test, molecular test for the SARS-coronavirus-2,” said John Hackett, Jr., the Divisional Vice President of Applied Research and Technology at Abbott. Researchers inside their Illinois lab created a test that can be used with the company’s testing system, called “m2000 RealTime.” That’s key because the company says that system is already widely available in hospitals and testing labs around the country. “These are in hospitals and academic centers and this is where the test volume is,” Hackett said. The speed in regulatory approval from the FDA for the test was unprecedented. The company said that, normally, it can take several years to get a test approved; this one happened in a matter of weeks. Their testing system can run through 470 patient tests per day. “This is a massive impact when you think about trying to get results back to the physicians,” Hackett said. “This is actionable information - either a person's infected or they're not.” About 150,000 tests are now on their way to hospitals and labs in 18 states – including New York, California and Washington – some of the hardest hit by COVID-19. The company plans to be producing a million tests a week by the end of this month. Other companies, including those in California and Texas, have similar authorizations from the FDA and are hoping to provide more tests. “The key thing here is to get to a point where we can change the trajectory, reduce the trajectory, reduce the number of new infections that are occurring,” Hackett said. It’s a change they hope might put a dent in the coronavirus pandemic. 1872

7.5/10The original Super Mario All-Stars for the Super Nintendo is pound-for-pound the greatest video game cartridge ever released. Having easy access to Mario’s first three 2D adventures provides an easy way to experience the evolution and improvements made with each entry. Most importantly, all three of those games still hold up in 2020. When it comes to Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a package that includes Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, this is not the case, but that doesn’t mean Nintendo’s new collection on the Switch is one to overlook. Image from Nintendo.com Super Mario 64Let’s get this out of the way. Super Mario 64 does not hold up. I know, it saddens me too. Mario’s first 3D adventure is arguably one of the most important video games of all time, but mamma-mia, has this game aged poorly. As soon as I jumped into the Bob-omb Battlefield course at the start, my gaming brain was startled by the game’s awful camera system, which makes completing an objective far more frustrating than I remember in 1996. Obtaining stars on each course is still exhilarating, but the excitement stemmed from the relief of conquering the awkward jumping angles, rather than accomplishing the task at hand. When it comes to visuals, the game looks exactly how you remember, albeit a bit smoother in some textures. It even retains the 4:3 aspect ratio. If you’re looking to experience the origins of 3D Mario titles, give this a look, if just for a nostalgia fill and move on. Image from Nintendo.com Super Mario SunshineThe most non-traditional of 3D Mario entries is by far Super Mario Sunshine. Originally on the only console to ever feature a handle, the Nintendo Gamecube, this game is worth a second look. Sunshine’s verticality, combined with its open-world structure, feels surprisingly modern and its difficulty remains among the highest in the Mario series, even if it’s sometimes unintentional due to the game’s bugginess. Controlling Mario with his water-filled jet pack still feels unlike anything else in the series, making for some literal refreshing mechanics that I enjoyed during my playthrough. From an art standpoint, I absolutely adore the colorful, tropical look of Isle Delfino and the characters that populate it. It’s not the best 3D Mario game, but don’t overlook this nautical adventure. Image from Nintendo.com Super Mario GalaxyThis was my first time experiencing Mario’s outer space escapade. If you told me this game came out this generation, you could easily fool me. Super Mario Galaxy hasn’t aged a day since its release in 2007. Its space-aesthetic rivals the art direction of any Nintendo Switch game to date, and its tight controls feel fantastic. Running around bite-sized planets, playing with gravity, and that launching into the next world animation makes me want to stop writing this review and go play it right now. I am cherishing the number of stars I have left to collect. It’s a real shame that Super Mario Galaxy 2 was left off of this collection. Perhaps it’s time to go dig out my Wii to experience the sequel. Galaxy is reason enough to purchase this bundle, even at the slightly steep price point. The full packageSuper Mario 3D All-Stars is just the meat and potatoes without any added junk food to consume. Aside from a playlist of 175 iconic Mario jams to listen to separately, this collection has zero special features. I would have loved to see a documentary about the making of these games, or even some never-before-seen sketches when the game was in its early stages. Instead, we’re simply left with the bare minimum of the three original games with some slightly improved visuals. Still, though, this is the easiest way to play these titles in 2020. If you’re on the fence about purchasing, this game is only available until March 31, 2021, according to Nintendo. While the timed-purchasing opportunity seems pointless, this collection is a thrilling and nostalgic trip down memory lane.Review code provided by publisher For more game reviews, follow Joey Greaber Facebook|Twitter 4184

For more than 40 years, The Guardian Angels have been putting their lives on the line to protect citizens. The group, which is made up of volunteers, don't get paid and don't carry weapons. Advocates of the group say they have made a big difference in public safety. But the group is having trouble attracting new members, and it's losing its headquarters in Colorado. It’s Saturday evening on one of Denver’s most dangerous streets, when the calls of concerns start coming in. “We got a report from a passerby about an individual shooting over here,” said Robi Salo, commander of the Colorado Guardian Angels. The word "shooting" refers to drug use, and that's exactly what Salo and his team found when they arrived to the scene. They approached young man, sitting in a parking lot with a needle in his hand. “We aren’t going to bust your b***s or nothing,” Salo says. “If you’re going to shoot, you’re going to shoot.”The young man decides, at least while the Guardian Angels are around, not to inject himself with drugs. Salo chalks it up a small win. Back in the day, the Guardian Angels had a reputation of being a Robin Hood, while robbing drug dealers and donating that money to local shelters. The group started out protecting New York City subway riders in the late 1970’s. The Colorado Guardian Angel chapter opened in Denver in 1993. Twenty-six years later, their numbers are dropping, their members are getting older and they’re losing their headquarters.“The numbers have dwindled over the years,” Salo says of the Colorado Guardian Angels. “Instead of having 100 active, we have 25 maybe on the deep list; probably about 12 that are heavily active. And we’re aging. I’m 55 we have members that are as old as 70.”Salo says while there are more Guardian Angels chapters across the country, the number of active members has stayed the same at around 3,000 since the mid-1990’s. The angels are aging out, but there is hope to replace them. “I’m kind of, right now, a rookie; fresh meat,” said Zane Salazar, who at 16 years old is following his father’s footsteps in becoming a Guardian Angel. “We want to show the community that we’re out there, show the community that we care, and I think people will come along if they see that.”We reached out to several national and local law enforcement agencies for their take on the Guardian Angels. None of them wanted comment, but police departments typically don't encourage citizens to take the law into their own hands. Their opinions on the Guardian Angels have been mixed over the years. 2558
