This past Fourth of July weekend was not what he was hoping for.“With the holiday weekend, our numbers, they were tremendously disappointing,” Brown said.It's going to get worse before it gets better.That's because Brown is going to have to shut down his indoor service for three weeks,Along with a variety of other business owners in the county.The county made the Governor’s monitoring list for three days in a row, meaning restrictions are going into effect at restaurants, tasting rooms, breweries, entertainment centers, zoos, theaters and card rooms for the next three weeks.“I say we are going back instead of forward,” said Patrizia Branchi, who owns Operacaffe downtown.Branchi said business has really suffered during the pandemic - with sales down to 35 percent.These new restrictions still allow her to serve customers outside - but with social distancing rules, her patio only holds six people.“I don’t want to think about closing because to me that means my family is going to have a problem,” Branchi said. “I have me and my daughter, and the other partner, which is with us since ever. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 44-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car and seriously injured in Mission Valley Saturday, police said.The unidentified man was walking in a crosswalk at about 5 a.m. on 2300 Camino Del Rio North when a 57-year-old driver of a Ford Explorer traveling northbound on Qualcomm Way turned eastbound and the vehicle hit the pedestrian.The man walking in the crosswalk suffered a possible skull fracture, several facial fractures and internal injuries. His injuries are considered to be life-threatening, police said. 538

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A bicyclist riding with a group of cyclists was seriously injured Saturday when he was struck by a motorcycle in Pacific Beach, police said.The collision happened at 3:14 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Reed Avenue, according to Officer John Buttle of the San Diego Police Department.A 23-year-old man riding a 2017 Harley Davidson Sportster was southbound in the 4200 block of Ingraham as a group of cyclists were eastbound in the 1500 block of Reed Avenue, Buttle said.The cyclists entered the intersection and the motorcycle struck one of them, a 49-year-old man, the officer said.The motorcyclist suffered road rash to his right leg, Buttle said. The bicyclist suffered a broken left femur and broken ribs. Medics took the cyclist to a hospital.Officers from the SDPD traffic division were investigating the collision, Buttle said.Ingraham was closed in both directions at Thomas and Oliver avenues and was expected to last a couple of hours, the SDPD said. 1012

San Diegans already pay some of the nation's highest gas taxes, and they're about to fork over even more at the pump.On Wednesday, the state will raise the per-gallon tax by 12 cents to 41.7 cents per gallon. That's on top of existing state and federal taxes drivers pay on regular gasoline. Gov. Jerry Brown and the state legislature approved the increase earlier this year to help fund state and local transportation projects. There's an interactive project map here. The new tax is supposed to generate about billion over the next 10 years. "For us just regular people, we don't have the extra money to pay for gas, especially with the commute," said La Mesa resident Anneke Crowder, who was filling up Monday. But there is one force at play that could lessen the hit from the increase.
