Federal investigators are looking into whether a huge wildfire near Los Angeles was sparked by Southern California Edison utility equipment. Edison says it has turned over a section of an overhead conductor from the utility’s facility near a dam in the area where the Bobcat Fire started Sept. 6. The initial report of fire was near Cogswell Dam at 12:21 p.m. Sept. 6. The utility says five minutes earlier, at 12:16 p.m., a circuit at the substation experienced a possible disturbance or event. Edison says cameras captured smoke developing in the area around 12:10 p.m., prior to the activity on Edison’s circuit.As of Thursday, there are still 26 ongoing wildfires in California being fought by 18,200 firefighters. In the last six weeks, fires have consumed 6,700 buildings and have killed 26 people. Crews say that cooler weather in the state is helping firefighters make progress on the wildfires, which have consumed 3.6 million acres of land in the state since the start of the year. 999

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Students at Classic Academy High School will return to school Tuesday without one of their own, who was tragically killed in a car accident over the weekend. Jonah Staebell died early Saturday morning when the truck he was riding in crashed. CHP officials say the accident happened at about 2:35 a.m. on Saturday on Summit Drive and Old Pasqual Road. Officers say seven teens were riding in a pick-up truck when the 18-year-old driver lost control and overturned. Five teens, including Staebell, were riding in the bed of the truck and all of them were ejected. Staebell died at the hospital. Staebell's principal, Dana Moen spoke to 10News Monday night. Moen remembered Jonah as a beloved student who did well in the classroom and in athletics. Moen says Staebell played football, lacrosse, and was a dancer. School officials tell 10News students officially go back to school on Tuesday and grief counselors will be on-site for as long as they're needed. According to Moen, the other teens involved in the accident were all treated at the hospital but have since been released. Facebook users briefly reported widespread issues with the social media site Thursday afternoon, according to Down Detector, a website that crowdsources telecommunication and social media outages.Down Detector reported that it received more than 6,300 reports of problems on Facebook at about 2 p.m. Thursday. Half of those issues were reported as a "total blackout."After a short outage, it appears service was fully restored to the site.It's unclear what was causing the issues on the platform. 504

FAIRBORN, Ohio — A 911 call during a regularly-scheduled installation exercise prompted a lockdown at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base on Thursday.According to the base's Twitter account, officials were executing an active shooter training exercise in Area A of the base on Thursday when an "unknown individual" called 911, fearing the training was real. The call prompted a security sweep of the base and a lockdown call.Later, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base later clarified that there was never a "real world" active shooter on the base.  558

ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) -- A popular Encinitas cafe was destroyed and nearby residences were evacuated following a blaze early Monday morning.Crews were called around 12:15 a.m. to a commercial building fire at 698 N Coast Highway 101, about three blocks from the coastline.Witnesses reported hearing an explosion then seeing the building fully engulfed almost instantly. "I heard a really loud pop and then I heard some yelling," said Matt Prior, a nearby resident. He thought the noise was gunfire until he realized the popular Mozy Cafe was engulfed in flames."I went outside and saw like a really big orange glow," said Prior.Flames were still raging an hour after the first units arrived. More firefighting units were called to the scene and crews evacuated nearby residential buildings.No injuries were reported.In total, Mozy Cafe and three other businesses resided in the destroyed commercial building. Firefighters remained on the scene as of 6 a.m. to monitor hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation but officials say it does not seem suspicious.The owners of the four businesses say they want to rebuild and have created a GoFundMe to raise money. 1185
