SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -  A San Diego man walked up to a horrifying sight:  his wife bloodied and unconscious in Balboa Park.Donna Gookin and her husband Ed were part of a group participating in orienteering last Wednesday in the early evening.  Orienteering is hiking sport that combines a compass, a map and locating markers.  The two were on separate parts of the trail. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A driver apparently lost control of his SUV and crash landed on the roof of a University City home early Tuesday morning.The crash happened at around 1:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of Pennant Way, according to San Diego police.Bill Crane told ABC 10News that after he heard a loud crash, he came out of his home and saw the male driver in his yard and the Jeep Cherokee Laredo on top of his next-door neighbor’s house."I was asleep at the time and I heard this crash, and I came out and I looked around and saw a guy kind of wandering near behind me, by what's left of the tree, and he was just kind of stumbling and I couldn't figure out what the hell that was. Because you usually don't think of a car being on someone's roof. So, when I finally figured that out, I went in to get my phone, and came back out and called 911, and he was gone,” Crane said.Crane called 911 to report the crash, and he then called the woman who lives in the house. However, Crane said the woman initially didn’t believe her.Crane added, "I called her twice and she said, 'What, a car on my roof? I'm not going out there, I can't believe that.’ It is pretty unbelievable.”ABC 10News learned the woman was asleep at the time and never heard the crash. She believes the SUV was coming down Pennant Way, somehow veered on a resident’s front lawn and launched onto her garage.A towing service used a crane to remove the Jeep from the roof of the home’s garage.There is no word on how much damage the home sustained, but inspectors said the house was structurally sound despite the wreck.No one was hurt in the crash.As of late Tuesday morning, police have not tracked down the SUV's driver. 1692

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As police ramp up their probe, an Otay Mesa dog owner believes his dog may also have been targeted by a pepper spray-wielding mail carrier.The owner of 9-year-old Roscoe didn't want identified, but he tells 10news about two months ago - moments after their mail carrier left - Roscoe started to twitch in pain, which lasted minutes. He say Roscoe was behind a gate and not a threat to the postal carrier. Hours later, the dog's eyes were still red. The dog's owner didn't report it, but says another neighbor complained about a similar occurrence. Both of their homes are just blocks from the Galindo home on Agosto Street."Makes me feel angry and so sad that he's causing so much pain," said Alfonso Galindo.Earlier this week, he spoke to 10news about the strange stains on his patio that prompted him to check his surveillance video. He watched the unbelievable unfold: a postal carrier appearing to hold pepper spray under the mail, as he walked by a metal gate. Behind the gate is his 7-year-old rescue Pupa. At the same time, Pupa begins convulsing for minutes."Sickening. It's scary how nonchalant he is. He's done this before," said Galindo.Galindo says he found nine similar incidents in the recordings on his hard drive, about a month's worth. The Postal Service issued an apology, saying the 'appropriate action' will be taken."That left me with a question. Is this person going to be retrained and put back on my route? That's not going to cut it," said Galindo.There are also more questions about the impact on his two young children, who are constantly touching and hugging Pupa. For months, they've suffered mysterious respiratory issues, requiring frequent trips to the hospital. On Wednesday, both were diagnosed with asthma. Galindo says more tests need to be done, but doctors believe the pepper spray could be the cause, and at the minimum, is an aggravating factor."I'm scared to find out where this could take my children. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — State officials responded earlier this week to a technical glitch that impacted as many as 300,000 COVID-19 test results being reported."We are committed to the medium and long term to address these foundational data issues so that we can approve our importance and our customer service," Gov. Gavin Newsom said earlier this week. Counties across the state felt the impact of the data inaccuracies. Local leaders use numbers and science to guide decision making. But are counties themselves having any issues with the numbers?In Kern County, public health officials were asked at the end of July if they're 100% sure no one is getting double-counted. The county says they have had to go back and subtract some people from the total number of cases when they realized they counted that person more than once, but stress that's rare.In San Diego and San Luis Obispo Counties, officials said they're confident in the daily numbers they are reporting to the public."I'm quite confident our numbers are accurate. Before we had web CMR and our tests are not all phoned through CalREDIE. Our test results are reported directly to the county," County Public Health Officer Wilma Wooten said. "The only issue which you already know about is the glitch with Quest which was going through the state and then coming to us so we are fairly confident our information is accurate."A spokesperson for San Luis Obispo County says they are confident in the number of positive cases reported:"We regularly run data queries on our positive case results to search for duplicates. On occasions, duplicates have been detected and counts adjusted appropriately."ABC 10News asked the California Department of Public Health about data accuracy, duplicates, and decision making.
