A Cincinnati police officer outed an undercover colleague to the nightclub owner under investigation and concealed ,000 in off-duty income from the IRS, according to federal prosecutors.Quianna Campbell, 39, was arrested Friday. She stands charged with lying to federal agents and submitting false tax returns.According to the criminal complaint filed against Campbell in United States District Court, federal agents first became aware of her during a 2015 investigation into Cincinnati nightclubs’ potential involvement in organized drug trafficking and money-laundering. “During the course of this investigation, information was received that individuals associated with nightclubs had been or were currently being warned of police activities and were in essence being tipped off and possibly protected by members of the Cincinnati Police Department,” an IRS investigator wrote. Investigators later uncovered text messages in which a nightclub owner texted Campbell to ask about a specific person who had visited the club. “She’s an officer….” Campbell wrote back. She also discussed possible reasons police would be investigating the club, writing: “They work on random nights and go into different bars. If they come back again next weekend I would say yes.”In an interview with federal investigators, Campbell denied sending the messages and said she would never out an undercover officer. In 2018, according to the complaint, Campbell would admit she had also concealed a total of ,000 she had earned working off-duty details between 2015-17. She didn’t report the total to the IRS in her taxes, “because if she had reported the income she would not have received as large of tax refunds she received from the federal government,” the IRS investigator wrote. If convicted on both charges, Campbell could spent up to eight years in federal prison."The Cincinnati Police Department is aware of the indictment and arrest of Police Officer Quianna Campbell this afternoon," a department spokesperson wrote in a statement Friday afternoon. "We will be monitoring the judicial process and provide an update if more information becomes available." 2163

A growing number of states are issuing stay-at-home orders to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus that has already killed thousands of people worldwide. These orders are not necessarily full lockdowns, but they do require residents to stay home except for essential activities, such as grocery shopping, going to the pharmacy, receiving medical care, walking your dog, etc. If you work in an essential industry, like healthcare, food service or law enforcement, you will also be able to travel to your place of employment. Many of these orders also prohibit things like visiting other people’s homes (except to provide care or supplies) and gatherings of more than 10 people. The following states have issued stay-at-home orders:ArizonaOn Match 30, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey issued a declaration entitled "Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected." The order urges Arizonans to limit their time away from home except for "essential activities and functions." It also ordered the closure of businesses deemed "non-essential." The order goes into effect on March 31 at 5 p.m.For more info on the order, 1149

A 9th grade student at Buffalo’s International Preparatory School in New York says she was forced to remove her hijab by an assistant principal.“He was like, ‘Take that thing off your head, you’re not Muslim or Arabian.’” That’s what Najah Travis claims assistant principal Marin Lyonga told her after pulling her to the side on Monday. She refused, and called her mother. When Luvita Franklin arrived she said she was speaking with a second assistant principal, Patrick Doyle, who told her it’s district policy to provide proof of practicing the Muslim faith to wear a hijab. In a recording of the conversation played by Franklin for our cameras Doyle can be heard saying “It is a district policy.” When Franklin asked whether it was new he replied, “It’s not new.”We send a transcript to representative from the school district. Buffalo Schools chief of staff Darren Brown says it is not a policy for the district that students are required to provide proof of religion. He says administrators are always free to inquire more about students’ religions and ask questions to understand more. After investigating this incident, Brown says the assistant principals asked to see proof of religion because they were familiar with Travis from a number of interactions, but had never seen Travis in a hijab before.Brown says administrators were worried about it being seen as offensive to other students, and wanted to ensure the hijab was not being worn as a fashion statement.“It wouldn’t matter if it was the first or the 5th time you’ve seen her wearing it, once she put it on her head, it shouldn’t have mattered,” said Franklin. In the recording with Doyle, he can be heard saying, “All she needs to do is bring a note saying she’s a part of the religion from somebody that’s a member of the (indistinguishable)…as long as that’s done, at that point she can wear it as much as she wants. Nobody will ever stop her. We fully support all religions.”Imam Pasha Syed at Jami Masjid says hijabs are not exclusive to the Muslim faith. Anyone, at any time can wear one. He also says even Muslims don’t wear hijabs daily.“It takes time. It doesn’t happen from day one. Some people may have to grow into it. Sometimes it takes years.”Brown said that Buffalo Public Schools prides itself on inclusion and dignity for all students. The district has looked into this incident and continues to investigate to determine whether it was handled appropriately by all parties involved.
