SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego Superior Court jury is deliberating the murder case against a 44-year-old man who admits killing his wife.Armando Perez was grilled about his relationship with his estranged wife; 19-year-old Diana Gonzalez.She was murdered seven years ago in a men's restroom at San Diego City College.He'd stalked her that day, climbing a tree to peer into a second-floor classroom to see if she were there.  After class he confronted her.  "I remember just losing it and I guess I stabbed her." "You killed her." "Yes."Perez testified that he was jealous and that she told him he'd never see their baby daughter again.Time and again he admitted guilt but denied clear memories of strangling her then mutilating her body; finally carving an obscenity into her back.The prosecutor continued,  "After you stabbed Diana  in her neck, in her chest, on her face; you knew she was dead, didn't you?" "I don't know. It was me but I don't remember doing it."Perez appeared to be fighting back tears at one point, as he was repeatedly asked about specifics of the attack. "I just became a monster. I don't remember doing none of that."If convicted, Perez faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. 1255

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- After years of setbacks and construction, part of One Paseo is getting ready to open its doors in Carmel Valley. The company behind the project plans to open the multi-concept development in phases, with the retail space scheduled to open first in the beginning of March. The residential area is set to open in the summer of 2019 with offices on the property following in 2020. The City Council approved the much larger original project in 2015, but it was overturned after opponents collected 60,000 signatures on a petition. Council members urged the project's developer, Kilroy Realty, and its opponents to reach a compromise.The downsized One Paseo project was approved by San Diego’s City Council 8-1 in mid 2016. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego photographer is searching for a mystery couple seen in a Sunset Cliffs engagement photo.Elmer Rodriguez says he was out for a walk with his kids taking pictures of the sunset in late February. When he looked off to the side, he says he spotted the couple in the distance and decided to capture the special moment. “I decided it’s a good memory and they should have it,” Rodriguez said. But when Rodriguez walked over to meet the couple, he says they vanished. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An autopsy report for a San Diego State student who died after falling from his bed after a night of partying revealed elevated alcohol levels.The report from the county Medical Examiner found that Dylan Hernandez, 19, died of blunt force injuries of head and ruled his death an accident. At the time of the autopsy, a toxicology report said elevated alcohol levels of 0.06 percent and cannabinoids were found in his system. However, earlier reports from campus police said he had a 0.23 percent blood-alcohol level the morning he fell.Hernandez fell from his bunk bed in the early morning hours of Nov. 7, 2019, after a fraternity party that night. The family said they believed campus police were not pursuing certain angles, including a possible cover-up."The Hernandez family is concerned because witnesses they provided to SDSU and UPD still have not been questioned," George Kindley, the Hernandez family's lawyer, said.Hernandez's family claims SDSU Police never sought out warrants for Snapchat videos or phone records from members of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, the fraternity Hernandez was pledging to join. They said police were aware that some fraternity brothers may have instructed others to delete videos and messages that were incriminating.University police said they are aware of the autopsy results released Thursday and "will be evaluating the findings as part of the ongoing investigation." 1916
