Setting up a showdown with California, the Trump administration on Thursday announced a plan to revoke a signature Obama-era environmental regulation.The administration wants to freeze a rule mandating that automakers work to make cars substantially more fuel efficient. It called its plan a "50-state fuel economy and tailpipe carbon dioxide emissions standard for passenger cars and light trucks."The administration also proposed a withdrawal of California's Clean Air Act preemption waiver. California and about a dozen states that follow its rules account for about a third of all the passenger vehicles sold in the United States.California Governor Jerry Brown called the proposal "reckless.""For Trump to now destroy a law first enacted at the request of Ronald Reagan five decades ago is a betrayal and an assault on the health of Americans everywhere," said Brown, in a statement. "California will fight this stupidity in every conceivable way possible."Thirteen states, plus Washington, DC, have adopted California's standards. Colorado announced plans to become the fourteenth.The attorneys general of 20 states, including California, pledged to sue the administration. They called the plan illegal, saying it would force motorists to pay more for gas and create more air pollution.The Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards require automakers' cars to average about 50 miles per gallon by 2025. The standards, enacted in 2012, get stricter every year leading up to 2025. The Trump administration's proposal would cut off the average CAFE increases in 2020, when automakers will have to produce cars that get an average of 43.7 miles per gallon."It's still a very aggressive program. We have been steadily increasing the standards... for almost a decade," said EPA Assistant Administrator Bill Wehrum on a call with reporters Thursday.The EPA and Department of Transportation cited safety as one reason for the changes. They claimed the reduced standards would make new cars more affordable. That would allow more people to buy cars with enhanced safety features, the government said. The administration said the proposed plan will prevent thousands of on-road fatalities and injuries.The public will have 60 days to comment on the plan before any action is taken.Automakers, represented by the Auto Alliance and Global Automakers, said they support "substantive negotiations" about fuel efficiency standards. 2429

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said this week he is in favor of passing another round of economic stimulus for Americans, but suggested the funds be targeted to a smaller number of Americans.McConnell told reporters on Monday that the next round of stimulus funds should cover Americans making less than ,000 per year, which is far lower than the threshold for stimulus funds during the last round of aid, which many Americans received in April and May.Congress is currently on recess, but is expected to begin discussions on another round of aid when it reconvenes July 20.In May, House Democrats approved a stimulus plan, which included ,200 checks for those making less than ,000 a year. The House's bill has yet to be considered by the Senate, which had a few Democratic priorities the GOP are standing firmly against – funds for states to count mail-in ballots in the fall and a lack of liability protection for companies.Both McConnell and President Donald Trump have stated support for a second round of stimulus. Something you can't see with the naked eye could be the keeping an eye on you in your most private moments.Illegally hidden cameras are getting harder to detect each day.At her request, we have concealed the identity of a Central Florida woman who found a hidden camera installed in a fan sitting on a table in her home."Well right now it's making me very paranoid because I feel like there could be more devices," said the woman.  She is sharing her story to warn others.There are already plenty of other warnings out there in our state as well.In October 2017, a couple found a hidden camera in a smoke detector in their Airbnb room in Longboat Key.In March 2016, a mother said she found a hidden camera in a West Kendall restaurant bathroom.The demand for hidden cameras, and help finding them, keep private investigator Jody Stacy busy at his Delray Beach store."You got to think if they're finding one device, how many did they miss? Again, it's getting cheaper, smaller and more effective," said Stacy.Stacy went on to say, "Pretty much anything can hold a hidden camera. A stuffed animal, a clock, something as small as a phone charger. Finding the camera can be a challenge."The woman in Central Florida felt like someone she knew, knew too much about her private life."I feel like he can hear everything I'm talking about and everything I say," said the woman.She hired a private investigator, who found the camera in a fan.For about one hundred bucks, you can use a handheld device to spot hidden camera lenses and radio frequencies.  Stacy said, "Everything has to have a crystal or a lens in it like the smoke detectors or stuff like that so if you went through it... it would reflect and you'd see like a little red light and it would tell you there's a camera in it." 1814

Some may call this story a coincidence but this Corpus Christi, Texas couple calls it fate.Turns out they were both born on the same day, delivered by the same doctor all while at the same hospital.It was at Bay Area hospital almost 23 years ago that the special deliveries took place.Sierra Molina and Marcus Acuna’s love story is hard to believe but it’s true. Now, this couple wants to make their wedding day just as special as their love story.It was while the two were getting to know each other they learned this love connection was meant to be. That’s because the couple was born on the same day, in the same hospital.“I went and asked my mom. And she was like why what’s wrong? Well, the girl I’m talking to has the same birthday as me. She goes, really? And I go yes. It’s weird,” said Sierra Molina’s fiancee Marcus Acuna. Then they were delivered by the same doctor.“So when our parents told us we were like oh that’s cool let’s pull out the birth certificate and we saw it on there,” said Bride to be Sierra Molina.“It was divinely a shock to find out that there is somebody out there that has the same birthday as me and lives in the same town as me for years as long as we’ve been here,” said Acuna.Their love continued to grow and on Christmas Day in December of 2019, the two got engaged.“When I realized I wanted to marry her, I was like you know, it’s something that I want to do and this makes me happy and she makes me happy,” said Acuna.Since their story is so special the wedding date they chose will be as well.“Now that we are going to have our wedding on our birthday on August 23rd when we turn 23 like that’s so special like this date whether it’s during corona or not we know we wanted to have this date,” said Molina.If you are second-guessing getting married during a pandemic, the couple has some advice for you.“Just do it. It’s not about how big it is or how small it is, if it’s in a backyard, ya know just anything.
