SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Nine people were taken into custody Friday after border officials say a panga-style boat was stopped off the coast of Carlsbad.The boat was spotted at about 10:20 p.m. on Thursday by San Diego Air and Marine Branch crews. Officials say the crews used blue lights, sirens, and a spotlight to try and stop the boat, but it would not stop.Crews then used disabling rounds on the boat's engine, bringing the vessel to a stop about 12 miles west of Carlsbad.The nine people on the boat were taken into custody onshore by Border Patrol agents. 564

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One man is behind bars Saturday after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through North San Diego County, ending at a Riverside County casino.Augustine Robinson was arrested inside Pechanga Casino, after leading deputies on a pursuit that began in San Marcos, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.Deputies said Robinson stopped at a Shell gas station at 400 Sycamore Ave. in Vista at about 5:30 a.m. and told the clerk to put an undisclosed amount of money on a pump. The clerk reportedly told Robinson he had to pay for the fuel but Robinson gestured toward his pocket and said, "You should put it on the pump."MAP: Track crime in your neighborhoodThe clerk, thinking Robinson had a weapon, did as he demanded. Robinson also grabbed a drink from a refrigerator before filling his car and leaving, deputies added.Deputies came across Robinson's suspected vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. A pursuit began and lasted for about 50 minutes, taking deputies through San Marcos, Vista, Escondido, and into Riverside County.The chase ended at Pechanga, where deputies said Robinson fled and was stopped just inside the casino entrance. No injuries were reported.Deputies have booked Robinson in the Vista Detention Facility and charged him with robbery and reckless evading. 1339

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police believe a couple found dead in a Torrey Highlands home Saturday night was killed by their son. According to police, the couple was expected in San Francisco earlier in the day, but they never showed up.When police arrived at the home on the 7400 block of Via Rivera in Torrey Highlands just before 10 p.m. Saturday, they saw the body of a person through a window of the home. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One day after San Diego County allowed dining in restaurants to resume with modifications, Pacific Beach's El Prez was ordered to close for violating county public health orders.Now, the restaurant and bar says it's hoping to reopen sometime next week after passing an health department inspection.Last week, El Prez was the scene of customers ignoring physical distancing and facial covering rules.
