(KGTV) – The Carlsbad Police Department held a community meeting to address a creeper that’s been prowling through neighborhoods.RELATED: Carlsbad Police release sketch of suspected prowler who entered homes on occasionAbout 50 people attended the Thursday night meeting at the Carlsbad Senior Center.Police passed out the sketch of the man they say has been looking through people’s windows and then climbing through the glass.In one case, the prowler climbed into a teenager’s window but ran off when the girl woke up and started screaming.Police say the incidents happened between Sept. 11 and Sept. 16.  In all cases, police say the man went in through an unlocked window on the ground floor. 731

(KGTV) — A man was airlifted to the hospital Sunday after illegally climbing over a section of Calexico's border and falling.The man, who U.S. Customs and Border Protection said had crossed over illegally sometime just after 8 p.m., broke both of his legs and sustained a back injury from the 30-foot fall from atop the border wall.Video shows the man climbing over and falling to the ground, where he lay motionless.RELATED: Congress watchdog: Border wall may cost more, take longerBorder officials said they found him behind the nearby Gran Plaza Outlet Mall at about 9 p.m.Agents on the scene provided the man with first aid and called in emergency responders, who took the man to a Palm Springs medical center.El Centro Sector Border Patrol released the video on Twitter this week, reminding the public of the danger of attempting to climb the border wall. 890

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Celebrities are rallying around a 6-year-old boy who saved his 4-year-old sister from a gruesome dog attack this month, according to his family.Nikki Walker took to Instagram this week to tell the story of how her nephew, Bridger, stood between his sister and charging dog. The boy’s aunt says he was bitten several times on the face and head before the two were able to run away to safety.According to Walker, the boy later said, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.”Walker says Bridger had to receive about 90 stitches from a plastic surgeon, but he’s now recovering at home.On Instagram, Bridger asked the public to share her nephew’s story and help get the attention of some Marvel actors.“We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks,” said Walker.The request was granted. Businesses are one step closer to growing their own marijuana in San Diego. The deadline to enter the lottery for those permits ended Wednesday afternoon. Bradley Fisher really has his hopes up. "I'm getting it," said Fisher. "I'll be one of the 40 forsure."  He applied for two permits Wednesday so his client can start growing their own pot. He submitted his paperwork ahead of the lottery deadline, which gives him a better chance of getting that permit down the road. His client already has a warehouse set up for production. "They're able to grow it and bring it right to the dispensary," said Fisher. "They can make baked items as well, cookies, cakes the whole nine-yards, and it's all legit because they'll have permits for it."But it's not a simple process. "They're gonna put like a mezzanine in the building, in the warehouse, ovens, and stuff like that, tons of lights," said Fisher. "Electric is going to be off the hook; water is going up there. It's very costly, but then again its very beneficial."The city is now reviewing those applications to make sure they meet their demands. "To make the cultivation center you need to be 1,000 feet from any schools, any churches, daycares, parks."Applicants can still apply for appointments Thursday even if they weren't part of the lottery. CANTON, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia school district has quarantined more than 1,000 students and staff members because of possible exposure to the coronavirus since classes resumed this last week. The Cherokee County School District outside Atlanta said it would also temporarily shut down a hard-hit high school in which a widely shared photo showed dozens of maskless students posing together. "Since we’ve reopened, and as of this morning, there have been 59 positive COVID-19 tests confirmed among our students and staff, which have led us to mandate two-week quarantines for 925 students and staff," Superintendent Dr. Brian V. Hightower said in a Facebook post. "We are not hesitating to quarantine students and staff who have had possible exposure – even if the positive test was prompted by possible exposure rather than symptoms, as all positive cases can lead to the infection of others. Our transparency to our community is far beyond any requirements by the Department of Public Health, but we believe our community benefits from our longstanding commitment to transparency. We don’t need social media to tell us to be transparent – it’s who we are because we care about our community." 1199
