If you've been hearing the disembodied voice of a laughing young woman or child in your home lately, there's (probably) no need to call a ghost hunter.According to The Verge, Amazon confirmed on Wednesday that "Alexa," the voice of Echo smart speakers, may cackle unprompted from time to time.In a statement to Scripps National, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed that the company is changing how to make Alexa laugh. "In rare circumstances, Alexa can mistakenly hear the phrase 'Alexa, laugh,'" Amazon said. "We are changing that phrase to be 'Alexa, can you laugh?' Which is less likely to have false positives, and we are disabling the short utterance 'Alexa, laugh.' Well, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center, roughly half of U.S. adults who use YouTube say it’s helped them learn to do new things. And those behind popular how-to videos are making big bucks.For Greg Wickherst, he began his channel to help other dads struggling just like him.   "When I got custody of my daughter, I didn't know how to do her hair,” he says. “I couldn't even do a ponytail, and I didn't want to have her going to school looking like a ragamuffin."  Wickherst’s first few videos went viral and he quickly became known as “The Hair Dad.”But it's not just hair tutorials, YouTube is the go-to platform for people to learn how to do stuff. In a new study of mask usage published by the American Institute of Physics, researchers found that if 70% of people wore surgical masks, the pandemic would be "eradicated."According to the article, which was published Tuesday, investigators with the Department of Engineering at the National University of Singapore looked at studies that reviewed N95s, surgical masks, and cloth masks to see how the mask's design, material, and capability of protecting people from the virus, was.Authors Sanjay Kumar and Heow Pueh Lee found that if 70% of people wore surgical masks in public consistently, the pandemic could be eradicated. Even cloth masks, which they found to be 30% effective, could lead to a "significant reduction of COVID-19 burden."The researchers analyzed that if masks are worn, it reduces the size of fluid droplets expelled from the nose and mouth, spreading the virus in the air. The investigators said small droplets traveled a more considerable distance and were in the air longer because they became aerosolized.According to the article, the researchers found that the N95s filtered out aerosol-sized droplets, and masks made with hybrid polymer materials effectively filter particles while simultaneously cooling the face. 1250
