SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A wildlife overpass near Salt Lake City is proving to be successful at helping animals safely migrate over a busy interstate.The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (UDWR) hailed the Parley's Canyon overpass a success in a recent Facebook post, saying it has also helped motorists stay much safer as well.In its Facebook post, UDWR included video that show many animals using the overpass to safely cross to the other side of Interstate 80. Cameras set up along the bridge captured moose, bears, porcupines, squirrels, mountain lions, deer, coyotes, and other critters.The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and Utah State University have been monitoring the overpass throughout the year.The overpass opened in December 2018. UDOT says it spans six lanes of interstate and was constructed to improve safety on I-80 by reducing wildlife and vehicle collisions.UDOT coordinated with UDWR on the wildlife issues specific to the project, including wildlife migration patterns.While it may be tempting to visit the bridge in an attempt to spot some critters, UDWR says to keep off the overpass and not disturb the animals. 1154

Colleen Grace is the first to give an in-depth view of what led up to an entire SEAL platoon being withdrawn from Iraq following a Fourth of July barbecue and the alleged sexual assault of a sailor. Grace detailed what she witnessed that night and described other misconduct. Special Warfare Operator First Class Adel A. Enayat was charged with sexual assault. He denies any wrongdoing. The AP initially withheld his name because he filed a counter complaint saying the sailor raped him. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A former biologist at the San Diego Zoo was sentenced Wednesday to six months in federal prison for embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars by cashing payments for false invoices he created.Matthew John Anderson, 50, of Ramona, pleaded guilty earlier this year to a theft charge for taking more than 6,000 from the zoo over the course of eight years. The U.S. Attorney's Office said that as a citizen of the United Kingdom, Anderson will likely face deportation once his sentence is completed.He has paid the full restitution amount back to the zoo, the U.S. Attorney's Office said."For years, this defendant took advantage of the trust of one of our city's most beloved institutions," said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. "His theft compromised the San Diego Zoo's world-renowned conservation work, made possible by government grants, charitable donations and the work of thousands of unpaid volunteers."Prosecutors said Anderson created dozens of fake invoices -- often using the name of fictitious vendors -- then submitted the invoices to the zoo for payment for products that were never purchased or received. Additionally, he submitted invoices for his personal expenses.The zoo sent payments to accounts he controlled or to other third parties, who sent the bulk of the payments to Anderson, prosecutors said.Anderson worked at the zoo for more than 17 years and served as the director of behavioral biology for the zoo's Institute for Conservation Research. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 1,115-acre vegetation fire at the Camp Pendleton Marine Base was extinguished today, base officials said.The Camp Pendleton Fire Department put out the fire at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday after battling the blaze overnight.The fire began Saturday and was first reported after 5 p.m. to have charred 220 acres, sending smoke over North County.The fire burned in the X-ray impact area, which is used for artillery and mortar training. 455
