(KGTV) -- A student shown in a video being thrown to the ground by a school resource officer at Helix High School during a disciplinary matter spoke out for the first time Tuesday.A video recorded by students show 17-year-old Brianna Bell being thrown to the ground while in handcuffs at the school.The incident was sparked after the officer was called to assist with the suspended student reportedly refusing to leave campus.VIDEO: Officer tackles handcuffed 17-year-old student to ground at Helix HS"The student became non-compliant on two separate occasions and made an attempt to free herself by pulling away from the officer," La Mesa Police Department officials wrote in a statement. LA MESA (CNS) - One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 8 in La Mesa and lanes of the freeway were blocked this morning until further notice.The crash occurred near state Route 125 at 9:55 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.A witness told officers one vehicle was being driven recklessly just before hitting the center divider wall.The crash blocked three westbound lanes of the freeway and a SigAlert was issued at 10:30 p.m., the CHP said.The age, gender, and name of the victim was not disclosed. 557

(KGTV) - A Camp Pendleton Marine is suspected of shooting and killing his estranged wife at a home in Laguna Hills, Orange County Sheriff's Detectives said Friday.Jerel Boykins, 26, was detained by Marine Corps NCIS on base Thursday afternoon, just hours after deputies found his wife's body.Deputies were conducting a welfare check at the home on Via Lomas in Laguna Hills when they discovered the 23-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds.Boykins is being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of million bail.Anyone with information should call Orange County Crimestoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS. 646
LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A police officer recruit in Indiana has been fired after his department received "credible" information the officer participated in a neo-Nazi internet chat forum in 2016.According to a report from Lafayette police, the department was tagged late Friday on its official Twitter page with information specifically identifying the officer.In a statement, Chief Patrick Flannelly said the department's internal affairs division began an immediate investigation and determined that the officer did participate in the online forum and that the information provided to the police department was accurate and credible.We have chosen not to identify the officer at this time, since he has not been charged with a crime.The chief said the officer's comments "were not in harmony with the spirit of cooperation and inclusion in the community that the Lafayette Police Department values."The officer was hired by the department in June 2020 and has been working solely in a training environment and has had no exposure to the public, the chief said."The Lafayette Police Department conducts very thorough and complete background investigations on all potential employees, which includes a complete review of personal social media accounts," Flannelly said. "While this information may not have been accessible through our investigative processes, we are appreciative that it was brought to our attention. We take great pride in our investigations and are extremely disappointed that we were not able to uncover this information in that process.
