FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers say Hall of Fame manager Tom Lasorda has been hospitalized in Southern California. The Dodgers said Sunday that their 93-year-old former manager was in intensive care and resting comfortably at a hospital in Orange County. Lasorda lives in Fullerton. He attended the team’s Game 6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Oct. 27 in Texas that clinched the Dodgers’ first World Series title since 1988. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A Grand Rapids teen is making sure your morning cup of coffee stays brewing for years to come with the launch of her new coffee line, Joven Coffee."Joven means 'young' in Spanish, so that is why we chose it because we're supporting young farmers," said Frankie Volekma, founder of Joven Coffee.At 14, Frankie is the youngest coffee Q grader in the world and is launching the coffee line to support the next generation of coffee farmers."We're just trying to make it a viable career option for a lot of these young farmers because a lot of times it's a low paying career to be in coffee farming," she said.In coffee producing countries like Columbia and regions of Africa, farmers are primarily 57 years old or older.Frankie's concern is those farmers will eventually retire, and there won't be enough young farmers to take their place."I think it's an important issue, and you're going to hear more about it over time," said Frankie's dad, Tim Volekma, owner of Sparrow Coffee and Schuil Coffee. HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Henrico Police are working to identify a woman who allegedly punched a teenage McDonald's employee in the face after the employee failed to put ketchup on her sandwich.The alleged assault took place at the White Oak McDonald's in eastern Henrico County.The victim's mom said that the woman approached her daughter and instigated a fight after she did not put ketchup on the woman's sandwich."She asked my daughter if she had a problem, and my daughter said, 'No, I have no problem,'" the victim's mother said. Kopcow ruled that Cindy and Ronnie Watts should be able to speak in court Monday and deliver victim impact statements in which they could ask the judge for a more-lenient sentence for their son.
