A Lebanon, Indiana, mother is upset after she says her kids were denied breakfast and "lunch shamed" because they didn't have enough money on their account.Shaina Lawson says her 2nd and 5th grade daughters came home crying on Thursday from Harney Elementary School after she says the cafeteria worker denied them breakfast."You should never take food away from an innocent child," Lawson said. "It's awful."Lawson didn't put more money on their accounts in time and says their food was taken away from them in front of everyone. "The lady took their food from them in front of everyone in the lunch room and told them because they didn't have money on there that they were not allowed to eat," Lawson said. "There were kids snickering in the back of the line, made them feel very uncomfortable. I can only imagine how they were feeling."While students are not allowed to buy anything when there's no money on their account, Lebanon Community Schools says students have an alternate menu option available to them. When a student's balance is low, the schools notifies the parents twice a week. Schools send home a letter explaining the process of applying for free or reduced price meals when a student's balance goes in the negatives. "But before we could put money on there, they decided it was ok to snatch away my kids breakfast both of them in front of everyone," Lawson said. A Beverly Hills real estate agent and another man are accused of burglarizing celebrities' homes in Southern California, sometimes during open-house viewings, prosecutors say.Real estate agent Jason Emil Yaselli and Benjamin Eitan Ackerman have been charged with several crimes, accused of taking more than than 0,000 through fraud and embezzlement, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said.Their alleged victims include musicians Usher and Adam Lambert, as well as "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" stars Paul and Dorit Kemsley and former NFL player Shaun Phillips, prosecutors said.Ackerman, of Beverly Hills, was arrested August 16, and Yaselli was arrested Wednesday.From December 2016 to August 2018, prosecutors allege, Yaselli encouraged Ackerman to steal luxury items from 14 homes and then sell them to make payments on Yaselli's credit card.In many cases, the men identified the targets or committed the burglaries during open houses, prosecutors allege. People are taking to the streets in major American cities calling for change after George Floyd, a black man, died in Minnesota after being restrained by a white police officer. Cameras captured the Minneapolis police officer with his knee on Floyd’s neck with Floyd pleading, “I can’t breathe.” Days after his death, Floyd’s words echoed through downtown Denver with hundreds of people coming together, creating a human wall and blocking freeway access. “The fact that they say that they’re scared or whatever, mother (cuss word) don’t get the job,” said US Army veteran Aubrey Rose. With an American flag hanging upside down on his shoulder, Rose has gone from defending his country to questioning those policing it. “This is important because I risked my life to uphold the constitution and black people’s rights are being walked all over,” he said.
