The firefighters from Station 32 on Briarwood Road recently responded to a medical call involving an elderly woman. While on scene, they found the home had a damaged wheelchair ramp. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A restaurant and dollar store were damaged Sunday morning after a fire started in Lincoln Park.The fire started inside the Herencias Mexican Food restaurant around 6 a.m. on the 5000 block of Logan Avenue.Crews arrived on scene and the fire was knocked out by 8 a.m.No one was inside the restaurant at the time of the blaze, but fire crews say a neighboring Family Dollar store was damaged.The cause of the fire is under investigation. 463

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man is searching for the good Samaritan who pulled him from a rip current in La Jolla this week.Patrick Fitzpatrick was swimming at Windansea Beach Tuesday."It took a snap second before I was in control to completely out of control," Fitzpatrick recalled, after becoming caught in a rip current. "There was no way on Earth that I was going to live from this. I was in a panic. I couldn't use my arms and legs now."Someone on shore, only known as "Dustin," noticed Fitzpatrick struggling and swam out to help him."He's a guardian angel. He owe him my life, he saved my life," Fitzpatrick says.Dustin swam out and kept Fitzpatrick calm before more help could arrive and get him to shore.Fitzpatrick is hoping to reunite with his mystery rescuer to say thank you."The humanity that comes from an act of kindness like this, from a perfect stranger," Fitzpatrick said. 892

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A North San Diego County teenager was taken into custody Thursday after reportedly making threats to Torrey Pines High School.School administrators reached out to San Diego Police Thursday morning after a 14-year-old freshman was suspended for making verbal and written threats.While investigating, police found that the teen committed the crime of making criminal threats.Officers went to the 14-year-old boy's home around noon on Larkfield Court near El Camino Real and Del Mar Road in Carmel Valley. The boy was taken to the San Diego Juvenile Hall Detention Facility.RELATED: Parents warned of threats to 3 San Diego County schoolsThe teen's father cooperated with officers and the family's home is not being searched at this time, according to investigators.Later Thursday night, police went back to the home where they served a search warrant. Officers spent less than an hour searching the home. It's unclear what exactly, if anything, police found in the 14-year-old's possession. Following the incident, Superintendent Eric Dill released the following statement:"We are working cooperatively with the San Diego Police Department as they investigate a possible threat involving a student. The police contacted the student off-campus. At no time were our students or school in danger. We would like to thank the concerned students who brought this matter to our attention.
