OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - An Oceanside man says his dog is healing from a close encounter with a coyote that was caught on his doorbell camera. CC, a 13-year-old Maltipoo, was attacked by the coyote Wednesday about 9 p.m. at her home on Morgan Creek Way. “Thinking I’m never going to see her again,” said Joe Vines Jr., CC’s owner. Video from the Ring camera shows CC scurrying into the front yard as Vines locks his door. He was about to put CC in the car to run errands when he heard her cry for help. Vines turned around to find CC in the coyote’s jaws. RELATED: Dog named Roadrunner escapes coyote in chase down Vista street“His whole mouth was around her body, holding her like that,” Vines said. “In my head I’m thinking, I’m not going to let me dog….I’m not going to let her leave in someone's mouth.” Vines chased down the coyote, which dropped CC nearby. CC had several deep bites. She suffered two broken ribs and now has breathing problems. Vines will keep a closer eye on his dog from now on. The Helen Woodward Animal Center said it has been receiving more reports of coyote attacks than ever before. (AP) -- Authorities in Florida say a Burger King worker was fatally shot after a dispute over a delay in a food order.The Orange County Sheriff's Office identified the shooter in a news release Sunday as 37-year-old Kelvis Rodriguez Tormes.Authorities say he is charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, destruction of evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.The victim was identified as 22-year-old Desmond Armond Joshua Jr., who had only recently begun working at the restaurant. 528

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — A vehicle slammed into a power pole in Oceanside and flipped over early Monday, leaving locals without power and forcing some evacuations.The driver careened into the power pole in the 220 block of N. El Camino Real at about 3:30 a.m. The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.The power pole remained upright but was leaning over a nearby mobile home park, threatening some homes. Those homes have been evacuated and power to most of the park has been shut off.SDG&E crews were out to assess the damage Monday. The outage affected at least 180 people. Crews expect to restore power by 4 p.m.It's not clear what caused the driver to lose control. The driver reportedly told Oceanside Police they were trying to avoid hitting a coyote. 785
