CHICAGO, Ill. – Imagine a window providing a glimpse into the past – Europe in the late 13th century, 1930s America, life during the Revolutionary War. Then imagine that world fitting inside the palm of your hand. That’s what happens inside Jay Kupjack’s workshop. He is literally a giant, towering over his diminutive room recreations. “I guess you could call me a miniaturist, I suppose,” said Kupjack. Krupjack specializes in all things small. “The preferred scale everybody likes is 1/12th,” he explained. “So, it's an inch to a foot. That seems to work out. Not too small. Not too big.” Kupjack is the last of a dynasty of miniature artists. “It's some you know it's deliberate and it's delicate,” said Kupjack. Both his father, Eugene, and brother, Hank, dedicated their lives to the intricate Lilliputian artform. Everything is made by hand. “My brother liked doing ancient stuff,” said Kupjack. “He did Greek Roman, Egyptian. We don't go too far into the present. There's a 1940s diner.” Kupjack’s late father was the primary artist on many of the 68 Thorne rooms that have been on display at the Art Institute of Chicago since the 1930s. “This probably took about a year,” Kupjack said about an interior of a pirate’s cabin. Video of a man shooting a flamethrower on top of an MTA bus has sparked an NYPD investigation, police said Tuesday. The incident happened on Nov. 8 around 5:30 p.m. in Brooklyn, according to the NYPD.The wild video shows a shirtless man jumping from the top of an ice cream truck onto an MTA bus that had just pulled up alongside it. The man then shoots the flamethrower, spraying flames into the sky and onto the ground before jumping onto the street, the video shows. With amazing energy. We are in this together. We the illest. Video coming,” part of the caption said.Police were called to the scene but officers who arrived found no evidence of fire and could not find any witnesses, according to the NYPD.Police said they were made aware of the video after it was posted on social media Tuesday.A police spokesperson called the video shoot "impromptu and illegal," adding that the NYPD was not aware of any permits for the shoot. The NYPD is also investigating possible drone use in the video shoot. The MTA said 25 passengers were on the B26 bus when the man jumped onto the roof. No injuries were reported. The bus was discharged at the following stop and passengers were transferred to another bus, the MTA said.“We don’t even need to say how absurd, dangerous and just plain stupid this was. The reckless individual who torched over the top of an occupied bus put New Yorkers, including the bus operator, in life-threatening peril,” the MTA said in a statement Tuesday. “We are grateful the courageous actions of the operator in moving riders to safety minimized risk, and are cooperating fully with the NYPD investigation.” This article was written by Lauren Cook for WPIX. 2092

A video posted by a Twitter user Thursday night shows a car driving into a crowd of protesters in Times Square Thursday evening. A Twitter account providing updates on protests going on around the city said that the protest was asking for justice for Daniel Prude, a Black man who died March 30 after he was taken off life support, seven days after the encounter with police in Rochester. His death received no public attention until Wednesday, when his family released police body camera video they obtained. Prude was handcuffed, hooded and pinned down by police.Seven officers involved in the incident were suspended Thursday by Rochester Mayor Lovely Ann Warren. The incident caught the attention of State Sen. Brad Hoylman, who represents Manhattan. This is incredibly disturbing. The NYPD tweeted out that it was investigating and said that the car was not an NYPD vehicle. There is an ongoing investigation into an incident in Times Square involving a black Taurus sedan.
