Democrat Danny O'Connor has no plans to concede the special election for the Ohio 12th Congressional District to Republican state Sen. Troy Balderson until all provisional and absentee ballots are counted, his campaign manager tells CNN.Annie Ellison, O'Connor's spokeswoman and campaign manager, says the campaign is confident that the thousands of ballots left to count could bring the margin within .5 percent, a split that would trigger an automatic recount."There is totally enough of a chance that out of the ballots that are left there are enough to go for Danny and bring us within the .5 needed for an automatic recount," Ellison said. 652

DENVER, Colo. — The 115th National Western Stock Show in Denver is being postponed until January 2022.Stock Show officials announced the move Monday, saying the COVID-19 pandemic "does not allow for the Stock Show to host the annual event and comply with the health and safety guidelines that are necessary to protect Coloradans and help stop the spread.""More importantly, the projected environment through to the end of the year is too uncertain and therefore not reassuring enough to allow a traditional Stock Show to take place without potentially compromising the health and safety of exhibitors, visitors, and the public at large," officials said in a news release.Doug Jones, chairman of the Stock Show, called the postponement a difficult decision but assured that the event will return in 2022 "stronger than ever."Paul Andrews, president and CEO of the Stock Show, said organizers and city officials "could not find a path forward to have Stock Show and comply with the rules that govern gatherings of our size and rules of social distancing."While some social distancing restrictions have been lifted in Denver, large gatherings have still been mostly limited. The Broncos last week announced that 5,700 fans will be allowed for the team's second home game, on Sept. 27, but the fans will be distanced in "pods" across the stadium, ensuring that no more than 175 people are gathered in the same area at one time. The Stock Show is among the largest of its kind in the United States and typically draws more than 700,000 guests over 16 days each January. The event was only postponed one other time in its history, in 1915, after an outbreak of hoof and mouth disease among cattle, Andrews said at a news conference Monday.Mayor Michael Hancock said he supported the Stock Show's decision to postpone the 2021 event."The Stock Show came back from that postponement [in 1915] and it came back stronger, and we expect that it will do the same in 2022," Hancock said. "The City is in full support of this."This story was first reported by Ryan Osborne at KMGH in Denver, Colorado. 2092

DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - A horse died Monday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the fourth death at the track since the start of the summer racing season in July. “We are saddened to confirm that Bri Bri, an unraced three-year-old filly, was humanely euthanized today after suffering a serious injury to her pelvis during training,” the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club read in a statement. “We are deeply sorry for her and her human connections.” Emergency personnel and track veterinarians responded to the emergency immediately, said DMTC officials. Del Mar was among the nation’s safest racetracks last year, but experienced the deaths of two horses on the second day of the season. Charge A Bunch, trained by Carla Gaines, ran headfirst into Carson Valley, trained by Bob Baffert. Another of Baffert’s horses, Bowl of Soul, had a fetlock injury and was euthanized less than two weeks later. Bri Bri was trained by Jim Cassidy. Track officials said they will meet with him to discuss the matter. “Del Mar has implemented a series of safety and welfare reforms over the last several racing seasons, including the creation of an independent five-member panel to review all entries. To date, there have been no fatal injuries during racing in the current summer meet,” said DMTC officials. 1284

Delta Airlines has added more than 400 people to its “no-fly” list during the pandemic for refusing to comply with the airline’s mask policy, according to a company memo obtained by CNN.“As of this week, we’ve added 460 people to our no-fly list for refusing to comply with our mask requirement,” Delta’s CEO, Ed Bastian, reportedly wrote in the message to employees. This is an increase of nearly 200 people in the last few months. In July, Delta said they had banned around 240 passengers since the pandemic began.Major airlines require masks or facial coverings on all flights and many ask for them to be worn at the gate and during checkin at the airport. In June, airlines agreed to ban customers from future flights for refusing to wear masks, however CNN reports the airlines are not sharing information about the passengers they have banned. 855

DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - Vendors from the Del Mar Fairgrounds reopened in the parking lot hoping to make enough money through drive-thru orders to stay afloat.Tucked just behind the security office at the Solana Gate, you'll find signs for drive-thru fair food.Roxy's Restaurant, California Corn Dog Company and the Kettle Corn stand are staples at the fairgrounds. The pandemic shut down all of the fair's large scale events, events that would help vendors pay the bills. So owner of the Kettle Corn stand Oliver Feldhausen reopened April 24th in the Green Lot for orders to soften the financial blow."He was so pumped and happy with all the response he got, he invited us to come and join him," Shahram Naimi, owner of Roxy's Restaurant said.Naimi and Owner of California Corn Dog Company Rick Kasinak opened May 8th.Each Friday and Saturday they're open from noon to 6p.m.They're serving dozens compared to the thousands each day at the fair, but they say it's better than nothing."You know it's kinda touch and go but these weekends are definitely helping," Feldhausen said. He said he's thankful for the fair supporting them during this time and the power of social media."Every week we are seeing some of our regulars trickle in and as word continues to spread we're seeing more and more," he said. They're also spreading kindness. Each vendor is offering a discount to military personnel and first responders. Some customers are donating food to first responders and healthcare workers.Feldhausen said they've made deliveries to two fire houses, nurses and ER personnel. He said they were happy to deliver free of charge. Each owner has decades of experience at the fair."This would have been my 50th fair, " Kasinak said.Kasinak is third generation fair vendor. His grandfather opened his first stand in 1920 at the Minnesota State Fair. His father opened his first stand in 1969 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.Naimi came to the U.S. from Iran when he was 17 and started working in the restaurant business at 18-years-old. He opened Roxy's Restaurant in Encinitas with his brother in 1978. They sold the business a few years ago and slowed down, focusing more on their business at the fairgrounds. All of them hope next year everything will be back to normal.Get connected:California Corn Dog Company FacebookKettle Corn from San Diego County Fair Facebook | Instagram 2375
