SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police have identified the man who died in custody after being arrested in Little Italy earlier this month.Vito Vitale, also known as Todd James Vitale, 39, died at the hospital after being taken into custody.Witnesses say Vitale was running in and out of traffic naked near the 600 block of West Grape Street around 11 p.m. Friday yelling for help.People who witnessed the events also told police that the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.RELATED: Police investigate death of man arrested in Little ItalyAfter placing Vitale into handcuffs, several witnesses had to help officers restrain him. Police provided medical aid to Vitale until paramedics arrived.Police also identified the officers involved in the incident as Greg Pilkington, a 10-year veteran of the department, Robert Nelson, a three-year veteran and Carlos Diaz, a one-year veteran. 915

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - President Donald Trump said San Diego "needs a wall" while he toured eight border wall prototypes along the county's southern border Tuesday.During his visit, the president stopped intermittently during his inspection of the structures to discuss the wall and, at times, slam the state over its immigration policies."For the people that say no wall, if you didn't have walls over here you wouldn't even have a country," Trump said at the prototypes. "And, by the way, the state of California is begging us to build walls in certain areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Mortgage brokers spent the past week calling and emailing clients around San Diego, telling people it's time to buy."Whenever I see a rate dip like that, my first reaction is to call everyone as fast as I can," says Broker Scott Davenport. "I try to get a hold of as many people that have been on that fence to jump on it as quickly as they can."The frenzy started when mortgage rates dropped .22% on March 27, to 4.06% on a 30-year fixed rate mortgage.It was the biggest single-week rate drop in more than a decade.RELATED: San Diego among top hot housing markets for 2019, Zillow reports"That could mean a savings of hundreds of dollars per month," says Davenport. "Or even hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of a 30 year mortgage."Analysts say the drop came after the Federal Reserve said it was worried about the economy slowing down. It caused concern among investors, which led to good news for buyers."It's not gonna last," says Davenport. "You never know where the market's going to go. I expect rates to stay low through the summer, but at the same time, I don't expect them to stay low for long."Rates hit historic lows in 2012, around 3%, after the recession and housing bubble burst. Davenport says he doesn't see conditions that would create rates that low any time soon. That's why he's telling people to take advantage of the current rate near 4% now.He says anyone thinking of buying, or of refinancing a mortgage should get in touch with their broker now."Have the numbers run. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are searching for a group of males targeting local Apple stores in the North County.Police said two Apple locations, one in Carlsbad and the other in Escondido, have been targeted in a series of grab and runs. During the incidents, police say the males generally enter in hoodies or jackets and grab multiple Apple devices on display tables before quickly exiting.Outside, a getaway vehicle is usually waiting, police added.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodThe thefts occurred at the Carlsbad location, 1923 Calle Barcelona in the Forum Carlsbad, on May 16, June 18, July 11, and July 13, and the Escondido store, at 272 E. Via Rancho Parkway at Westfield North County, on July 9.The suspects are described as African-American males in their early 20s, wearing hoodie sweatshirts or jackets with the hood portion tied closely to their heads. There may also be a female suspect involved, police said.Since January 2018, the incidents have resulted in more than 0,000 of losses.
