Mayors across the country are asking their residents to take part of a friendly competition to see which cities can conserve the most water during the month of April.  Residents who participate in the Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation from April 1 to April 30 have the opportunity of winning ,000 toward their utility payments for a year. They can also win daily prizes, such as water-saving fixtures, cash and an Apple iPad Mini 4.In addition to residents winning prizes, one charity will receive a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid to help it serve the community."Last year, the challenge awarded more than ,000 in prizes to nearly 300 residents in U.S. cities," according to the challenge's website.Unsure how you can participate? Loved ones held a fundraiser today for the family of a mother killed by a hit-and-run driver. The CHP says Bernadette Castillo was struck last week along the 94 in Jamul. Her family and friends held a barbeque to raise funds for her funeral at Colina Del Sol Park on Friday.July 27th was a day that Debra Marulli will never forget. "Shock. Pain. A little bit of comfort because I know she’s not hurting," said Marulli. "Somebody loves her. To leave her on the side of the road like she’s an old pet, it's cruel." Loved ones held on to positive memories today while raising money for her funeral. "She was amazing," said Marulli. "She went out of her way to help anybody. She didn’t hold a grudge against people."The CHP has not identified a suspect. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville, Kentucky, has banned the use of controversial "no-knock" warrants and named the new ordinance for Breonna Taylor.Taylor was fatally shot by Louisville officers who burst into her home in March. Her death, along with the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd, have sparked a largely peaceful protest movement across the country, calling for significant changes in policing and an end to systemic racism.Louisville Metro Council unanimously voted Thursday night to ban the controversial warrants after days of protests and calls for reform. According to NPR, the law also requires police to wear body cameras when serving warrants and turn them on five minutes before entering a person's home.Taylor was killed on March 13 when police served a no-knock warrant on her home as part of a narcotics investigation. Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired at police, thinking they were intruders. Police returned fire and shot Taylor dead.No drugs were found at her home. No charges have been filed in connection to Taylor's death.Taylor's mother, Tamika Palmer, said the new law will save lives.Kentucky Sen. Michael Cohen informed a representative for Stormy Daniels he was willing to strike a deal to buy her silence only after the release of the now-infamous "Access Hollywood" recording where President Donald Trump can be heard talking about grabbing women without their consent, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.The Journal cited a person familiar with the conversation that took place between Cohen, Trump's former attorney, and Daniels' representative just one day after the October 2016 release of the recording. The newspaper reported that Cohen indicated during that conversation that "he was open to a deal," despite having "initially balked at the idea."The same source told the Journal that Cohen "resisted" making a payment to Daniels when the idea was proposed in September 2016.Daniels is a former adult film star who claims she had a consensual sexual encounter with Trump, who denies any affair.Citing individuals familiar with the matter, the Journal reported that federal prosecutors in New York state believe that the "Access Hollywood" recording may have caused Cohen to take action to keep negative stories about Trump out of the news. Federal prosecutors are investigating if that payment to Daniels was an illegal contribution to the campaign or should have been disclosed by the Trump campaign.A spokesperson for the US attorney's office in Manhattan, which is investigating Cohen, declined to comment to the Journal.Lanny Davis, an attorney for Cohen, told the newspaper that he cannot comment on "any matters even possibly remotely related to those that might be under investigation," as a result of advice of counsel.The White House, which has said in the past that Trump denies an affair with Daniels, did not respond to a request for comment from the Journal.The Justice Department said in April that Cohen is under criminal investigation, a revelation that came after a raid of Cohen's properties and office.Cohen acknowledged to The New York Times in February that he had made a 0,000 payment to Daniels, but said that neither the Trump organization nor the campaign had reimbursed him.Trump's story over the payment, meanwhile, has shifted.
