Prosecutors say she caused the children to be in a situation that was likely to produce great bodily injury and death. Her husband, Jonathan Allen, is facing charges that include torture and felony child abuse. He is being held on .2 million bail.Prosecutors said the children, who range in age from 4 months to 12 years, were waterboarded, shot with crossbows and had scalding-hot water poured on them.Sheriff’s officials and prosecutors say the children were rescued from the filthy home on March 31 after suffering puncture wounds, burns, bruises and injuries consistent with being shot with a pellet gun.RELATED: 10 children living in 'squalid and unsafe conditions' removed from California home  Solano County chief deputy district attorney Sharon Henry said the children were tortured “for sadistic purposes.”Court records show that Allen was also charged with four felonies in 2011 that include corporal injury, assault with a firearm and criminal threats in a case involving his wife.He pleaded no contest as part of a deal and was sentenced to 180 days and three years of probation. 1342

FBI agents have been questioning Missouri lawmakers about possible coercive tactics by associates of Gov. Eric Greitens, as the state legislature is set to consider impeaching the embattled governor. Two state Republican lawmakers told CNN they were contacted and interviewed in recent weeks by FBI agents, who asked whether they were aware of any threats and bribes made on behalf of the governor regarding an impeachment vote. One of the lawmakers, who met with an agent in Jefferson City, said they told the FBI they were not directly aware of any such incidents. The second lawmaker declined to discuss their responses to FBI questioning. The second lawmaker also said the FBI's questioning suggested investigators' interest is not limited solely to possible threats and bribes, although that was one focus.Spokespersons for the governor and the FBI did not comment. 875

Experts say the coronavirus pandemic has led to a decline in both planned and unplanned pregnancies.Experts added that people are meeting less because of COVID restrictions, job loss, and the uncertainty of the future has caused people to hit pause on having kids.On Wednesday, Modern Fertility published a survey that found out of nearly 4,000 people, 30% of them said they had changed their fertility plans due to the pandemic. In March, Modern Fertility found that 31% of those surveyed had decided to change their family planning timelines.Several reasons people gave behind their decision to delay having children was “it doesn’t seem like a good time to bring kids into the world,” “I need to improve my financial position,” and “I’m worried about contracting COVID-19.”On Thursday, the Brookings Institute projected that Americans would see 300,000 fewer births next year. 886
