CALEXICO, Calif. (KGTV) — A man drowned Wednesday after border officials say he tried to swim across an Imperial County canal and enter the U.S. illegally. The man, whose identity and nationality were not immediately known, was spotted swimming across the All-American Canal around 9 p.m. Wednesday along with two others, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a Friday news release.Border agents immediately apprehended two of the men when they made it across the canal, which runs parallel and just north of the U.S.-Mexico border. The third man, however, struggled to stay afloat, border officials say. Agents resumed their search Thursday morning and found the man's body about 150 yards from where he's suspected of entering the water, about two miles west of the Gran Plaza Outlets in Calexico.“This incident tragically illustrates how human smuggling organizations place migrants in perilous situations,” Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez said in the release. “This man put his trust in human smugglers and it cost him his life."The two men seen with the victim are both nationals of El Salvador, according to CBP. Officials didn't say whether the three men were traveling as part of the Central American caravan seeking asylum at the border. 1582

CARLSBAD (KGTV) -- A San Diego couple is missing their cruise over coronavirus concerns after they say the cruise company changed the itinerary without a refund.Lisa and Luis Revilla are cruise ship connoisserus. They've sailed through the Greek Islands and along the Italian coast. Their next trip was supposed to be through the Pacific Islands on the Norwegian Jade. But, due to coronavirus concerns that ship set sail without them. RELATED: Second case of coronavirus confirmed in San Diego County"I don’t need to go and risk my life," said Lisa Revilla. "We were sailing from Singapore and were being dropped off in Hong Kong. Hong Kong in the end closed their port."So, Norwegian changed the itinerary to leave Singapore, spend time at sea and head back to Singapore. It also wouldn't be your typical trip. "They were gonna implement certain temperature gauges, every time we got off and got back on from every port we were traveling to," said Revilla. RELATED: Mislabeled sample led to release of San Diego coronavirus patientBut to get over there they were planning on flying from LAX to Hong Kong, but American Airlines canceled their flights. So, they couldn't have taken the cruise even if they tried. "Basically I'm out almost ,000 from this voyage we were going to take," said Revilla. "What if we’re quarantined and I cant get back to my job I mean who’s going to pay for that?"Norwegain sent us this statement:“We always strive to do right by our guests while maintaining the business policies and practices we have in place to help us manage through situations just like this. It is because of the very nature of unexpected situations that we strongly recommend that guests obtain travel protection insurance. As a convenience to our guests, we offer a few travel protection plans at the time of booking, as well as during several follow-up communications. The plans allow for coverage in many situations. Some plans offer guests the opportunity to cancel for any reason. In addition, as is common in the travel and tourism industry, we have developed cancellation policies. They are communicated to our guests at time of booking and can be found on our website here: https://www.ncl.com/sites/default/files/Guest_Ticket_Contract_04-2017_2.pdfRevilla told 10News they were traveling with another couple who even purchased insurance through Norwegian and were told it wouldn't apply here. "We’ve been saving our money for a whole year and planning this whole trip. And it just didn’t happen," said Revilla. CARLSBAD (KGTV)-- Four years after the devastating wildfires in San Diego County, plants have grown back and neighbors rebuilt and recovered. The 2014 wildfires raged through neighborhoods, up over hills, turning at a moment's notice fueled by the Santa Ana winds. "It looked like a war zone of black smoke everywhere all over the place of all the roads blocked off," Homeowner Bob Payne said.He was at his relative's home when he got the call, and rushed back Carlsbad to see what he could do. He said he was lucky to have been out of town, otherwise he said he would've been on his driveway fighting the flames with a garden hose. His home was one of 65 structures that burned. Firefighters fought as 14 separate fires grew, eventually?covering 26,000 acres. At Bob's home, all that was left was a safe, full of photos of smiling children and their wedding memories. It took two and a half long years, to rebuild. He didn't want to leave their prime hilltop location, close to the beach and to town."It looks different, we changed our house some. We kept the same floor plan but we put in a couple perks in there which is nice," Bob said they had a pool put in and some exterior and interior designer changes.Nearby SDG&E did an update of their own, switching out wood poles for more durable metal ones."It burned up here and the and the fire department said it was 65-foot flames that came up and went to the attic of the house and burned it down," Bob said, explaining the fire flew up one of the poles and arched down to the roof of his home.Bob said he would never forget the generosity of the neighbors and complete strangers who gave everything from clothes, to food, to necessities to help his family through the disaster."I wish everybody a happy's Mother's Day on this day and count your blessings, and just enjoy your family and enjoy your health and everything that you have," saying he's thankful for the things that can't be touched by flames. 1992

Certain grocery stores are opening DSW, Designer Shoe Warehouse, shop-in-shops.Hy-Vee announced the partnership this week, saying two of their locations in the Twin Cities area have DSW displays inside with four more locations scheduled to open in the next few weeks. The DSW shop-in-shops will allow customers to try on shoes, selecting from a variety of styles and brands. Some stores will have lockers, allowing customers to order shoes online and pick them up in Hy-Vee stores. The shop-in-shop set-ups feature a wall of 100 shoes displaying top trends of the season. Customers can order by scanning a code on the shoes, and having them delivered to their home or store.“By combining in-store and online shopping experiences together with DSW, we are able to meet the unique needs of every shopper and make the shopping experience — whether in-store, online or both, seamless,” said Randy Edeker, Hy-Vee’s chairman, president and CEO.DSW told CNN they plan on having more than 2,000 shoes in each Hy-Vee location.Hy-Vee has more than 270 stores across eight states, and says they plan to open more DSW shop-in-shops in each state they have stores. 1157

Cellphone video from Friday night shows a firework going into the stands at Busch Stadium. It was recorded after the Cardinals win over the Chicago Cubs on July 27 during a scheduled “Fireworks Night” display after the game.“It just seemed like it went straight up in the air and came straight down in front us, hit a chair and some kind of rupture right in front of us,” said Natalie Carlson, who was in the stands. She said it took a moment for people to figure out what happened.“Everybody was just kind of shocked, I grabbed my friends and was like 'everybody scoot back, get under something just in case it happens again,” she added. She said they stayed and watched the entire show, not fearing for their safety. 723
