A 14-year-old from Port Huron, Michigan has been arrested in connection to a threatening comment made on the Instagram account of New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman.According to a New York Times article, Edelman received a comment on an Instagram post late last month saying: "I'm going to shoot my school up watch the news."The New York Times reports that Edelman's assistant called 911 and police determined the sender's email and IP address was traced to Port Huron.The teen was brought in for questioning and admitted to making the threat. He was arrested and charged with making a false report of a threat of terrorism, a four-year felony in Michigan. Police say a search of his home turned up two rifles that belonged to the teen's mother. Port Huron detectives credited Edelman with bringing the threat forward.  857

Lifesharing arranged a meeting between a North County family and the man who received their son’s heart.Mathieu Bergeron died last May after a tragic skateboarding accident. The 20-year-old was a registered organ donor.Bergeron’s heart saved the life of Dr. Murray Alsip, who was suffering from a heart condition that made it difficult to walk and, at times, to even breathe.Alsip said he had “one foot in the grave” before he was saved by Bergeron’s precious gift.The family meeting was both joyful and emotional. Scott Peters described his trip to a migrant detention center near McAllen, Texas, as "stunningly depressing.""The single men were being held in a series of rooms, each built for say 8-10 people and I think they had 40 people in them ... The faces of these men just looking out with desperate looks through these windows, some of them shirtless, it's obviously very hot in those places," the Democratic congressman said of his July 13 visit.Peters described the stench from the facility due to the inability for the men to shower. He said another holding facility the size of a convention center, had women and children in rooms divided by chain-link fence. "For the small children there's a small area where they can have toys. There's a few tragic sights you see of four or five-year-olds who are unaccompanied," he said.He said San Diego isn't dealing with nearly as many migrants compared to Texas, "the night before we arrived they picked up 2,000 people." He said he's proud of how San Diegans have stepped up, creating a migrant shelter downtown to fill in the gaps created with new laws meant to speed up the process."They do the intake, provide medical assessments, and then get these people on their way so that they can be out on their way with their family around the country and ready for their asylum hearing," he said.Ultimately he said there needs to be change at the southern border and in the countries causing their citizens to flee. 1490

A 17-year-old is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the head by a rubber bullet. Caprice Wade said her son Lazerick Wade, 17, went several blocks away from their home in Milwaukee to check in on a gathering of people outside a home. Minutes later, she had to rush him to a nearby hospital.“My heart sunk to the bottom of my feet,” Caprice Wade said. “I didn’t know what to do.”Cell phone video shows Lazerick in a blue hoodie moments before the shot was fired just feet away from officers. Caprice said her son was asked to move out of the street before the shot was fired.“When he turned around to look at me, his head was split wide open,” she recalled after picking up her son.A spokesperson with Milwaukee Police did confirm rubber bullets were used as part of non-lethal munitions to disperse crowds at the location.A police spokesperson said the department is investigating Caprice’s claims but are still investigating the alleged incident.“He’s in intensive care. We’re just waiting to see what else from there,” Caprice Wade said.Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has gone on-record decrying certain use-of-force."I stressed the need to bring the temperature down.
