(KGTV) - All evacuations and road closures have been lifted after a fire in Otay Mesa scorched hundreds of acres and tore through a pallet yard Thursday. The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said in a tweet Thursday evening that crews would mop up the burn area overnight while checking for hot spots. No structures were lost in the blaze and no one injured. The fire, named the Caliente Fire, broke out about noon at Otay Mesa Road and Caliente Avenue. The San Diego Fire Department initially reported that crews stopped forward progress of the fire at around 3 p.m., but the blaze reignited moments later, eventually spreading to a pallet yard. According to fire crews, the pallet yard housed 80,000 pallets. Thick, black smoke could be seen flooding into the air from Moreno Pallets in Otay Mesa. Four helicopters, two fixed-wing aircraft, four strike teams and the original San Diego Fire first alarm team battled the blaze, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The Southwestern College Higher Education Center in Otay Mesa was also evacuated due to the blaze. According to a spokesperson with the college, San Diego Police entered the college and told everyone to evacuate immediately. All night classes at Southwestern were canceled. San Ysidro High School was designated as the evacuation center while the American Red Cross provided supplies. (KGTV) — GoFundMe has found itself hosting another border wall related campaign, this time to counter a growing fundraiser to fund President Trump's border wall.The "Ladders to Get Over Trump's Wall" campaign was created to counter a multi-million dollar GoFundMe in support of the border wall. And while it says it's for ladders to get over the wall, it's not in the literal sense.Instead, the campaign says it intends to donate the money raised to legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees though the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), a Texas-based nonprofit."We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically-underpaid labor is essential to the U.S. economy. Seems like a bad idea on countless levels for everyone involved," the campaign writes. (KGTV) - A Disney cruise ship employee was sentenced Tuesday to 15 months in prison for wire fraud in an effort to embezzle the Walt Disney Company out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.Renan Dias Da Rocha Gomes, 32, who worked aboard the Disney Wonder cruise ship, admitted to accessing an online payment system while working as a merchandise host in stores aboard the ship.Gomes said he made about 0,000 in unauthorized charges to Disney's bank account and loaded the money onto Disney gift cards.RELATED: Ex-Disney Cruise worker accused of embezzling over 5K from DisneyWhile investigating Gomes' cabin on the cruise ship, officials said they found 217 gift cards, a stolen watch, and ,240 in cash. He also admitted to spending about ,700 of the embezzled funds by taking his family on a Disney World vacation, spending thousands on lodging, food, drinks, entertainment, and merchandise.Gomes was arrested in San Diego on Oct. 27, 2017. He will have to pay Walt Disney restitution in the amount he stole and forfeit the watch and cash seized upon his arrest, officials said.Gomes, a Brazilian national, was working on the ship with a temporary visa. Due to the conviction, his visa was canceled and he will be deported back to Brazil at the end of his sentence. 1290
