SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are investigating the death of a child at a Tierrasanta home Tuesday.San Diego Police responded to the 3100 Block of Minuteman St. just before 11 a.m. to reports of a four-month-old child not breathing. When paramedics arrived, they began CPR on the infant.First responders were not able to revive the child.Police do not suspect the death to be criminal in nature at this point. However, police said since they are still not sure what led to the baby's death, they are investigating.The child died in a home in a military housing neighborhood.  624

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One of the San Diego Zoo's oldest residents was euthanized due to age-related illnesses Wednesday.The zoo's male African lion, M'bari, had been suffering from a degenerative kidney, large kidney cyst, and spinal arthritis and under veterinary care before the decision was made to put him down, according to park spokesperson Andrew Jones.At 15-years-old, M'bari had exceeded expectations of a lion's average lifespan, which is about 10 years in the wild and can exceed 25 years in captivity, according to the zoo."In recent days, his condition had steadily worsened, despite attempts by animal care staff to modify his habitat to make him more comfortable," a statement from the zoo read. "This morning, because of his worsening quality of life, animal care staff made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize him."M'bari was introduced to locals at the San Diego Wild Animal Park in 2004 with the opening of Lion Camp when he was about two years old. He eventually moved to the San Diego Zoo in 2009, and has most recently lived with his mate, Etosha, in the Harry and Grace Steele Elephant Odyssey habitat. "A lot of times we just believe our thoughts, we just believe what we're thinking and that can be very dangerous right now. We need to question what we're thinking, step back and go, 'gosh! Is this really fair to myself?' And use curiosity and compassion."Some have canceled holiday plans with family, due to the rise in coronavirus cases. Others feel guilt and fear of spreading the virus."When we feel guilt, guilt is a transition emotion, it can really help us identify something that we need to learn from or change from or grow from," Dr. Carcel said. "Using that as a stepping stool, a tool, 'Am I feeling guilty because I can't spend time with my family?' If that is the case, 'Why am I doing it?' Most likely you are doing it because you are protecting your loved ones and you care about your loved ones. That is a wonderful and noble thing. Put yourself in a very good position with that thought."Dr. Carcel said a new study shows those who adapted their routine to fit the pandemic are thriving. One adaptation is instead of attending a spin class, going bicycle riding outdoors with a socially distanced group.Others are visiting with friends outside at a distance instead of indoors."This isn't what we actually want our lives to look like, however we do see an end in sight," Dr. Carcel said alluding to vaccine trials that are showing promising results.Dr. Carcel said the better we adapt to the way things are currently, the easier it will be to snap back to our old norms when restrictions are lifted. 2101

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are investigating the murder of a man stabbed in the chest during a fight in San Diego's Southcrest neighborhood.San Diego Police homicide detectives were called to the 3400 block of Newton Avenue Wednesday just before 11:30 a.m., near Interstate 15 and just a block away from Emerson/Bandini Elementary School. Police said they found a man stabbed in the chest at least once, following a fight at a homeless encampment under I-15.The man died at UCSD Medical Center.Police said they have the suspect accused of the murder in custody after several homeless people who witnessed the fight helped police track the suspect down at a nearby park.Police have identified the victim but are not releasing his name. The suspect was only identified as a 30-year-old man by police. 865
