Once the boat made it to shore, 14 people began running from Border Patrol agents. Thirteen people were captured, but one got away. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A woman who drove off a Northern California cliff last month in an SUV carrying her wife and children was drunk, authorities said Friday.Toxicology tests found Jennifer Hart had an alcohol level of 0.102, said California Patrol Capt. Bruce Carpenter. California drivers are considered drunk with a level of 0.08 or higher.Toxicology tests also found that her wife Sarah Hart and two of their children had "a significant amount" of an ingredient commonly found in the allergy drug Benadryl, which can make people sleepy. Toxicology results for a third child killed are still pending, Carpenter said.Carpenter said none of the car's occupants were wearing seatbelts.Sarah and Jennifer Hart and their six adopted children were believed to be in the family's SUV when it plunged off a cliff in Mendocino County, more than 160 miles (250 kilometers) north of San Francisco.Authorities have said that data from the vehicle's software suggested the crash was deliberate, though the California Highway Patrol has not concluded why the vehicle went off an ocean overlook on a rugged part of coastline. A specialized team of accident investigators is trying to figure that out with help from the FBI, Carpenter said.Five bodies were found March 26 near the small city of Mendocino, a few days after Washington state authorities began investigating the Harts for possible child neglect, but three of their children were not immediately recovered from the scene. Two more are missing and another body has been found but not identified. The 100-foot (31-meter) drop killed the women, both 39, and their children Markis Hart, 19; Jeremiah Hart, 14; and Abigail Hart, 14. Hannah Hart, 16; Devonte Hart, 15; and Sierra Hart, 12, have not been found. 1760

San Diego, Calif. (KGTV) - California is the biggest prizes in the 2020 primary and the remaining Democratic presidential candidates are making a final push to turn out voters in San Diego. Much of their final efforts is focused on getting supporters in the South Bay."We're putting people out in their own neighborhoods, talking to neighbors they already know, making sure they're filling out their absentee ballots," said Joe Biden campaign staffer Jack Hurley.Biden opened an office in the Eastlake neighborhood of Chula Vista shortly after the Iowa Caucus. While Biden does not have as big a staff or infrastructure as other campaigns, they have seen a boost in volunteers since Biden won the South Carolina primary. "I want to see change and I wanted Joe Biden to be that change, and that means I needed to get to work," said Russell, who walked in to the Biden office Monday to volunteer.Bernie Sanders has a large organization in San Diego, based out of its headquarters in Barrio Logan. Monday, teams worked in shifts to train volunteers to canvass the South Bay, focused particularly on San Ysidro. "Our goal is turning out voters that a lot of them haven't actually voted before. So we're mainly focused on turnout at this point in time," one staffmember told the volunteers."It was tough in the beginning," said Sanders volunteer France Hanna about his first efforts at doorknocking. "But I realize as I share my personal Bernie story with all the doors that I knock on that I have a lot of commonalities with people."The Sanders campaign is particularly working to utilize a relatively new law in California that allows ballot delivery, meaning that campaign volunteers can pick up voters' ballots and deliver them to be counted. Because Sanders emphasizes turnout out non-traditional voters, especially young voters and people of color, ballot delivery could provide a boon, making it easier people who perhaps may not have gone to the polls to cast a ballot. The Mike Bloomberg campaign is also working to reach LatinX voters in the South Bay. "One of the main things we understand about the South Bay is that there is the most potential to turn out voters," said staffer Jesus Cardenas. Bloomberg has teams of volunteers knocking on doors and making calls. "It's going to be a little bit crazy, but it's going to be fun," Cardenas said. "Our goal is to make sure we get as many people out to the polls as possible." 2437

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --Concertgoers have questions about show refunds with tickets bought from third party vendors.Danny Memeo is one of those people. He went to Kaaboo in Del Mar last year. It was a special time for him and his wife, Kelly.“We got to see Tom Petty right before he died, so we're super thankful,” Memeo said. They had a great time, so decided to go again this year.“So we got the tickets, and then all this stuff happened,” Memeo said.He bought the tickets through Vivid Seats. It cost roughly ,800 for their entire family. “That’s a lot for anybody,” he said.Meanwhile, his family got devastating health news. Kelly’s cancer returned. Danny said her prognosis is not good, with an estimated 12 months left to live.“[We’re] thankful for 12 months, thankful for family,” Danny said. “But wow, what a difficult year for a lot of people.”Back in July, Kaaboo officially announced there would be no event this year. “All pass holders will have the option for a full refund,” said a statement on its website.Because Danny’s family bought tickets through a different site, it’s a different story. As of Monday morning, he did not have any luck getting his money back.“They just said… when it does get rescheduled, you’ll get those tickets and you can sell them if you don’t want them,” Danny said the company told him.Vivid Seat’s website said that if an event is canceled, customers “will receive a Rewards Cash loyalty credit for 110% of the full value of your order total.”For postponements, customers “will need to hold onto [their] tickets for now.”Team 10 contacted Vivid Seats and informed them of the Memeo family’s situation.A spokesperson said they would refund them immediately.“Vivid Seats was happy to refund Kelly. At Vivid Seats we have refunded thousands of orders totaling tens of millions of dollars since the global pandemic shut down all live events in America. We have also provide an over million dollars in extra store credit to customers during this difficult time. As one of the few marketplaces still offering a full cash refund, Vivid Seats is communicating with each consumer once an event is canceled.” 2151
