SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- There's your frozen dinners like Salisbury steak and meatloaf, and then there's frozen meals packaged by San Diego native Ashleigh Ferran that bring familiar flavors to your table from popular restaurants like Juniper Ivy, Galaxy Taco and Ranch 45."Instead of walking down grocery aisles and supporting other sources from the U.S., you're buying not just from local restaurants but they are all sourced locally and kitchens in San Diego restaurants. You're taking those dollars and putting it back into the local economy," Ferran said. The idea came when Ferran lost her job amid the pandemic. She took her skills in hospitality, customer service and food to create In Good Company, a frozen meal delivery service that helps restaurants while satisfying people's hunger."Chefs are able to pick a dish w great margins and they keep all profit for their business," said Ferran. And these aren't meals you'd find at the restaurant, they're off menu entrees created just for Ferran's business. Each one feeds about 2-3 people and comes in a reusable container they pick up once it's empty. "It's easy to see your trash pile up with to-go containers, so we're helping you lighten your load while doing something great for the planet," said Ferran. In Good Company provides good eats while giving a lifeline to restaurants who could certainly use all the help right now. "It's openness to collaborate, think about how we can support each other, stay safe and bring joy around the dinner table. That's what keeps me inspired and happy to share that with everyone else," said Ferran. You can purchase meals until Saturday, Dec. 12. Every month they'll work with a new set of local restaurants and chefs. 1720

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The number of San Diegans who spend at least 90 minutes on their daily commute grew nearly 15% over the last decade, according to a recent analysis.Apartment List reports as San Diego County's workforce grew 10.8% from 2009 to 2017, "super commuters" (commuting 90 minutes or more one way) grew 14.9%. Overall though, the share of San Diego's workforce who endure a super commute is only 0.1%.The study showed the trend is much worse in other California counties like San Francisco (110.4% growth since 2009) and Los Angeles (up 22.3% since 2009).Other areas of the state located just outside San Francisco also saw large increases, like Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, which saw a 101.8% and 126.5% increases in super commute workforce, respectively.Rural counties were also more likely to endure a long commute, like Mono County, Calif., which saw a 1166.7% increase."Beyond the super commuters who drive from distant exurbs to work in the downtown offices of pricey superstar cities, we also see high rates of super commuting in some counties that are much closer to the urban core," the study said. "This is evidence of the large number of super commuters who rely on public transit. Super commuting is also common in certain pockets of rural America, particularly those with active drilling and mining industries."Extraction and construction jobs were the most likely to have the longest commute times. Education, training, and library; and food preparation positions were the least likely to have the shortest daily commutes. 1561

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The two brothers convicted of killing their parents at their Beverly Hills mansion have been reunited in prison, according to the Associated Press.A spokesperson for the corrections department says 47-year-old Erik Menendez has moved into the same housing unit as his 50-year-old brother, Lyle Menendez. Both brothers are serving life sentences for shooting and killing their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in 1989.Officials say Lyle was moved from Mule Creek State Prison to San Diego’s R.J. Donovan Correctional Facility in February, where his brother has been held in a separate unit since 2013. Wednesday, Erik moved into the same facility, where inmates interact in rehabilitation programs. The brothers can now spend time together during meal time and recreational periods. Each of the brothers has served time at three other state prisons. The brothers claim the murders happened after they were sexually abused by their father. Prosecutors said during the trial that the brothers wanted their parents’ multimillion-dollar estate. 1091
