A magnitude 6.1 earthquake has struck off the coast of Japan, United States Geological Survey reports.The earthquake's epicenter is located  in the Pacific Ocean, about 175 miles away from the coastal city of Kamaishi.The magnitude 6.1 quake occurred about 6 miles below the surface of the earth.The Japan Meteorological Agency currently has no tsunami warnings or advisories in affect, nor does the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.The earthquake occurred one day after more than 200 people died in an earthquake near Mexico City. 569

A Georgia school decided on Thursday to reverse its decision it made earlier in the week to end the practice of students participating in the Pledge of Allegiance during all-school assemblies, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Earlier in the week, Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School said that the pledge would no longer be recited in such assemblies after some parents and students expressed concerns. The school said that it wasn't outright banning the Pledge of Allegiance from being recited during school hours, but moving the pledge to the school's classrooms. “Over the past couple of years it has become increasingly obvious that more and more of our community were choosing to not stand and/or recite the pledge," principal Lara Zelski said, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "There are many emotions around this and we want everyone in our school family to start their day in a positive manner. After all, that is the whole purpose of our morning meeting.” By late Thursday, backlash from the public and public officials forced the school to reverse its decision. Georgia' Department of Education requires schools to make time for the Pledge of Allegiance, but students are not required to stand or recite it. “Students are offered the opportunity to participate in the Pledge of Allegiance," county superintendent Morcease J. A Brownsville, Texas man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after stealing and reselling .2 million in fajitas from a juvenile detention center over the span of nine years.Gilberto Escamilla had previously pleaded guilty to felony theft charges.Escamilla was caught last summer after he took a day off work from the Darrel B. Hester Juvenile Detention Center for a doctor's appointment. A driver called the kitchen at the juvenile center saying they had 800 pounds of fajitas to drop off.The center did not serve fajitas, but the driver said he had been delivering the meat to the center for nine years.After the driver spilled the beans, investigators found packages of fajitas in Escamilla's fridge where he reportedly sold the meat to separate buyers.Escamilla was fired from his job in August.The-CNN-Wire 865

A gunman killed 26 people and wounded 20 others at a Texas church Sunday morning in what Gov.
