Retail credit card APRs have not changed despite the Federal Reserve slashing interest rates to near zero this year, according to a new report from CreditCards.com.Store-only cards have the highest interest rate at nearly 30%. That's the case for a few jewelers, Discount Tire and Big Lots, which sells furniture and appliances.“They're kind of preying, in some cases, on people who are really desperate to buy something, but may not have the money for it,” said Ted Rossman, an industry analyst at CreditCards.com. “So, it's really all about risk management.”The website’s survey found more than 43% of people have impulsively applied for a store card at checkout. That phenomenon may change this holiday season, when much of the shopping is expected to be online.“It might be less of an issue this year,” said Rossman. “Although, who knows? Maybe the shoppers that are in store are going to be peddled these even more aggressively, so it's something to watch for.”Store credit cards can be worth it if you pay your bills in full to avoid interest and you're loyal to a certain retailer. That's especially true for cards that offer 5% back on everything you buy. Amazon, Walmart, Target and a few clothing stores offer those kinds of rewards. If you're just signing up for an initial discount, don't waste it on a small purchase.Remember a credit card is different from a free loyalty program. You might be getting into something that could hurt your credit score. 1470

RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - California Highway Patrol officers believe drugs or alcohol are likely factors in a crash that injured three people Tuesday near State Route 67 west of Ramona. A truck and two cars collided on Dye Road at Lansdown Lane about 4:30 p.m., the CHP reported. The white Mercedes had been traveling west on Dye Road and speeding when it crossed into oncoming traffic, witnesses told the CHP.The Mercedes clipped a blue Subaru and hit a Toyota Tacoma pickup head-on, officers said. The crash blocked the roadway and sent debris across lanes. Video from Sky10 showed the front end of the Mercedes was missing, and the roof of the truck was sheared off.Cal Fire crews, possibly from the Ramona station two-tenths of a mile away, were seen rescuing a person from a 77-year-old man from the seat of the truck. The men in the Mercedes and the truck suffered major injuries, the CHP confirmed. The woman in the Subaru had minor injuries. Helicopters landed in a nearby field to take patients to the hospital. The CHP announced a closure of the area at 5:16 p.m. Neighbors who live in the area say Dye Road is a dangerous road because no one drives the posted 55 mph speed limit. 1196

President Donald Trump's long-time confidant Keith Schiller privately testified that he rejected a Russian offer to send five women to then private-citizen Trump's hotel room during their 2013 trip to Moscow for the Miss Universe pageant, according to multiple sources from both political parties with direct knowledge of the testimony.Schiller, Trump's former bodyguard and personal aide, testified that he took the offer as a joke, two of the sources said. On their way up to Trump's hotel room that night, Schiller told the billionaire businessman about the offer and Trump laughed it off, Schiller told the House intelligence committee earlier this week. After several minutes outside of Trump's door, which was Schiller's practice as Trump's security chief, he said he left.Members of the committee raised the matter because of salacious allegations laid out in a dossier compiled by former British agent Christopher Steele, an opposition research document funded by Democrats detailing alleged ties between Trump and his associates with Russians.During this week's closed-door hearing, House lawmakers walked through a Daily Caller article, which raised some of the allegations about Trump's Moscow trip from the dossier and discussed an alternative story involving Schiller's role in rejecting the Russian offer of sending prostitutes to Trump's room. The dossier's claims about Trump's activities in Moscow are some of the most incendiary claims in the memos compiled by Steele, which claimed that Russia obtained "kompromat," or dirt, on Trump to use as blackmail. Trump has long denounced the dossier and flatly denied its assertions.Stuart Sears, an attorney for Schiller, said the chairman and ranking member of the committee should investigate individuals leaking "misleading versions" of Schiller's testimony, calling the conduct "indefensible" and questioning the credibility of the House inquiry."We are appalled by the leaks that are coming from partisan insiders from the House Intelligence Committee," Sears said in a statement. "It is outrageous that the very Committee that is conducting an investigation into leaks - purportedly in the public interest - is itself leaking information and defaming cooperative witnesses like Mr. Schiller."During the testimony with the House investigators, Schiller denied knowing about the salacious allegations contained in the dossier. He was also asked about a wide-range of issues, including meetings between Trump associates and Russians, and he denied having knowledge of many of those interactions, sources said. Moreover, he denied knowing about the deliberations around the firing of FBI Director James Comey, saying he was only called into deliver a letter with the news to the FBI.White House officials declined to comment. While Trump and the White House have long rejected the dossier as an attempt to discredit the presidency, the FBI has corroborated some information in the dossier and used it as justification to obtain a surveillance warrant on Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page, CNN has reported. But federal investigators have not verified the most salacious allegations regarding Trump's activities on his 2013 trip for the Miss Universe Pageant in Moscow.Schiller was asked about the Daily Caller article, and he confirmed a Russian made the offer to send the women to Trump's room which was raised around lunch-time, sources said. He was asked who made the offer, but he could not recall the identity of the individual, sources said.Multiple sources said the offer to send women to Trump's room came from a Russian who was accompanying Emin Agalarov, a pop star whose father is a billionaire oligarch close to Russian President Vladimir Putin and who worked with Trump to bring the pageant to Moscow. But Schiller said the offer did not come from Agalarov himself, the sources said, disputing the Daily Caller report on that matter.  3950

Presidential candidate Joe Biden’s campaign released a statement on Monday saying that the former vice president is not in favor of defunding police departments. His campaign’s statement comes a day after the Minneapolis City Council voted on dismantling the city’s police department in the wake of the death of George Floyd.Biden’s campaign added that he is supportive of police reforms, many of which are backed by those leading massive protests throughout the country.“Vice President Biden does not believe that police should be defunded,” Biden campaign spokesperson Andrew Bats said. “He hears and shares the deep grief and frustration of those calling out for change, and is driven to ensure that justice is done and that we put a stop to this terrible pain.”Biden’s campaign says it is supportive of increasing funding for public schools, summer programs and mental health and substance abuse treatment, “so that officers can focus on the job of policing.”Meanwhile, President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday that “the radical left Democrats have gone crazy” in response to defunding the police.“The president is appalled by the defund the police movement,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said.Earlier on Monday, Democrats in Congress proposed legislation calls on a national ban on police use of chokeholds, mandates racial bias training for officers, and sets restrictions on transferring military-type vehicles from the federal government to local police departments.Last week at a speech in Philadelphia, Biden said that he would call on Congress to implement a ban on chokeholds and a stop of transferring military equipment to police departments.McEnany said that the president does not have a specific police reform plan in response, but said it’s something he will look into. 1810

RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - The owners of a Ramona camel farm are concerned about a new California senate bill which could ban the animals from taking part in parades and shows. Known as the “circus cruelty” bill, it would stop Gil and Nancy Riegler from the Oasis Camel Dairy from transporting camels to events like parades, fairs, or Christmas nativity shows. Supporters of the bill say it will prevent animal abuse. 422
