(KGTV) — Mar Vista High School operated under heightened security Tuesday due to a possible threat.Instruction continued in classrooms but Mar Vista's doors were kept locked as part of the security measures, according to Manuel Rubio, public information officer with Sweetwater Union High School District.The campus resumed normal operations just before 1 p.m.The school district was working with the San Diego Sheriff's Department to investigate a possible threat posted to social media, Rubio said.The threat was later determined to be unfounded, though the campus would have increased security through the day, according to Rubio. 679

In another blow to its recovery efforts, an island-wide power outage left most of Puerto Rico in the dark, with only a fraction of residents regaining electricity by Wednesday night.The latest blackout prompted Gov. Ricardo Rossello to call on the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) to cancel its contract with the subcontractor that caused the massive outage."I have suggested to the PREPA Board of Directors that they cancel the contract with the Cobra subcontractor who is directly responsible for this power outage," he said in a statement Wednesday.An excavator operated by D. Grimm, a subcontractor for Cobra Acquisitions, apparently caused the blackout, according to the authority. Workers had been removing a fallen tower when the machine got too close to an energized line and an electrical ground fault caused the outage, according to Mammoth Energy, Cobra's parent company.The same company was responsible for an outage that affected 870,000 customers after a tree fell on a power line last week, PREPA said."This is the second power failure that has affected the people of Puerto Rico in less than a week," Rossello said. House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes' dispute with Depuity Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray appeared to de-escalate Wednesday after Nunes was given access to the document that kicked off the FBI's investigation into the Trump campaign and Russia.Nunes had been threatening to hold Rosenstein and Wray in contempt -- and to potentially impeach them -- if the Justice Department didn't cooperate with his committee amid stepped-up congressional Republican criticism of Rosenstein as President Donald Trump considers whether to fire him.A Justice official told CNN that Nunes and Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina went to the Justice Department on Wednesday to view the document, known as an electronic communication, which details the origination of the counterintelligence investigation into Trump's team and Russia that began in July 2016.
