-- and I think that's for a number of reasons," Kaslow said. Some reasons, Kaslow said, could be that family and community structures may not be as tight-knit as in the past, leading to increased risk, or that the increased use of technology has led to young people spending less time on cultivating rich, in-person relationships and more time being exposed to possible cyberbullying."I don't think it's the using of technology that's the problem, but I think it can be how that affects your relationships and the cyberbullying issue," she said. "There's growing evidence now that cyberbullying is associated with depression, with self-harm and suicidal thoughts and even death by suicide." 690
WOONSOCKET, R.I. – CVS Health announced Monday that it’s actively recruiting candidates to fill about 15,000 positions as we head into the fall and winter months. These new workers will help the company handle the expected increase in COVID-19 and flu cases, as well as the rollout of a potential coronavirus vaccine.CVS says more than 10,000 of the new roles are full- and part-time licensed pharmacy technicians at pharmacy locations and will be filled as soon as possible. Many of the positions are temporary with the possibility of becoming permanent. And in honor of Pharmacy Technician Day on Tuesday, CVS is advocating for an expanded scope of practice that would allow trained pharmacy technicians to administer COVID-19 vaccinations under the supervision of an immunization-certified pharmacist.CVS believes pharmacy technicians will play an integral role in safely and quickly distributing vaccines, extending the capacity of the health care workforce to address the pandemic.Along with helping with vaccinations, technicians help with COVID-19 testing, processing prescriptions, dispensing medications, providing information to customers and performing administrative tasks.“Additional team members typically are needed every flu season,” said Lisa Bisaccia, Chief Human Resources Officer, CVS Health. “However, we’re estimating a much greater need for trained pharmacy technicians this year given the continued presence of COVID-19 in our communities. These jobs offer a rewarding career opportunity, with flexible hours, advancement potential and a supportive environment while helping people on their path to better health.”For those seeking to stay home during the pandemic, CVS is also recruiting for several thousand work-from-home customer service representative positions across the country, including in Indianapolis, Kansas City, Knoxville, Mt. Prospect, Orlando, Pittsburgh and San Antonio. These jobs start at 30 hours per week and offer flexible schedules.Job seekers can go to cvs.jobs to apply. 2026

-- but it is laying the groundwork for the brewing, multi-pronged court battle between the Trump administration and congressional Democrats. The Justice Department offered on Tuesday to allow more staffers to view a less-redacted version of the Mueller report that was made available to select congressional leaders, to allow Congress to take their notes from the secure room after reviewing the report and to talk about it among those who had viewed it, according to the Justice Department's letter sent Tuesday evening. But that didn't hit at the heart of the dispute over the Mueller report, which comes down to two key issues: the grand jury material and Mueller's evidence.Democrats in their counteroffer requested that the Justice Department commit to work with the committee to go to court to obtain the grand jury material — or at least not oppose the committee's effort to do so, according to a committee spokesman. They also requested a meeting this week to discuss providing the committee access to Mueller's evidence and that the full membership of the Judiciary and Intelligence Committees should be able to view the less-redacted report. The Mueller report released publicly had approximately 8% of the material redacted, 1234
YORBA LINDA, Calif. – A sheriff’s deputy in Southern California is accused of burglarizing a home that he previously responded to in reference to a death investigation. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department says Deputy Steve Hortz, a 12-year veteran with the department, responded to the Yorba Linda home on July 20 regarding a man in his 70s who died from apparent natural causes. On Wednesday, the sheriff’s department says it was contacted by an attorney representing the family estate who reported items missing from the home. The lawyer also provided home surveillance video that captured Deputy Hortz entering the home without permission on at least three separate occasions and exiting with stolen property. In the first incident, authorities say the deputy returned to the home on July 27. While in uniform, he allegedly broke into the unoccupied residence through the rear and left a short time later. It’s unclear whether a theft occurred at that time. The deputy returned to the home in the early morning on Aug. 10 and Aug. 16 while in civilian clothes and removed items, including weapon safes, ceiling fans, and cases of unknown items, according to the department. An investigation was immediately launched when the department learned of the burglaries and Hortz was arrested on Thursday. He’s been booked into jail on suspicion of burglary.Hortz was also placed on administrative leave and the department says it will investigate prior calls handled by the deputy to determine if similar unreported instances have occurred.“The suspected criminal actions of this deputy are a violation of public trust, are inexcusable and intolerable,” said Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes in a statement. “This deputy will be held accountable through a swift and thorough process including a full criminal and internal administrative investigation.” 1853
